Question about SanDisk Sansa e200 MP3 Player

My Sansa will turn itself off after certian songs and now during refreshing

My sansa will turn itself off after certain songs, it didn't do this before. I managed to delete everything and put songs back, but now when it goes through its ' Refresh Database' it'll freeze, and turn itself off.

Is anyone else having this problem, is there a way to totally wipe out its current memory and start it all over?

These are the most common methods for recovering Sandisk's Sansa Mp3 Players. I have been almost universally successful in recovering Sansa players using one or a combination of these methods. These methods do not work if you are having synchronization or music format issues - they are for recovering a player that will not power up, freezes, flashes, is not recognized by the computer, and a host of other issues.

Reset the Sansa Player first. On most models, restart is done by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or longer. Check your specific manual to be sure. The manuals are available from the Sansa website if they have been misplaced.
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/DriverDownload/driverList.asp
If these fail, then:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version).
You may have to restart your computer after each of these methods to get them to work properly. Disconnect your Sansa player BEFORE shutting down your computer.

Stucked at Refresh database


When the Sansa reads "refreshing database," what it is doing is going through all the songs you've loaded on to it, pulling out the "tag" information (Artist, Album, Song Title, Genre) so it can add this information to its own database which it uses to display the songs to you in its menus.

If it gets stuck during this process, usually it's because of a corrupt song file, or a song file in a format it doesn't understand.

Note that the e280 is only able to play MP3 and WMA audio formats. If you've loaded a different type of audio file onto your Sansa, you'll need to remove them.

If the songs you've recently loaded have all been MP3 and/or WMA, you may have loaded a corrupted file onto your Sansa. Try removing the songs you recently added, and see if the problem goes away.

make sure you Sd card has the correct format, I hope its not NTFS or your going to have more issues.

I have a sansa 250e. When I plug it in an aux. I can only turn the volume up halfway any louder and the music starts to pop! I hope that makes sense?


Is it the bass you have it on? I know when I listen to some songs on mine, at a certain volume level, the one headphone cuts out and/or the headphones get all screwed and the song will get all distorted. This one sng I have will only play under certian weather conditions andd also depends on the battery to, if the conditiond aren't up to snuff, then the song willget all staticy and loud. Hope this helps. I need more details to properly answer this. Sorry.

Try to listen to songs on my Mp3 player (sansa c240) it no wrk


You have to connect the mp3 player to the computer and refresh your device through Bearshare - their songs have fixed licenses, which require you to refresh every 30 days or less.

Apparently there is a known problem with older firmware with some MP3 files having info in the ID part of the file that makes the player go crazy. So update your firmware or listen to different music :-)

MP3 needs to refresh DataBase?


You have to many songs a sansa e 250 only holds a certain amount of space so your best bet is to buy a memory card or delete songs so you can add new ones.

Sansa c250 freezes while refreshing database


I got my c250 to turn off while frozen by holding the "menu" and "select" buttons down at the same time for a few seconds.

hold down the on button on the bottom left hand side, keep holding it till the sansa turns itself off.  After its turned off switch it back on, ive had the same message up many times
