Question about Gateway FPD2275W LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Monitor failure Hi I have a Istar mod ID-17BSSIL monitor that is intermittent when first turned on. Sometimes it will work but mainly it starts and then stops after a short time during runup. Initially, switching it off and then on, rectified the problem but now it fails almost everytime I try and use it. Thanks, Jeff

Thanks for answering. My computer works fine with another monitor and the faulty monitor behaves the same on another computer so I'm 100% (maybe?) certain it's the monitor. I'm a TV tech from way back so I have an idea about fault finding, however I've never worked on this type of equipent. Any hints you might give me would be gratefully appreciated.

Sounds like it might be getting too hot and/or going bad. Not sure how to diagnose this without seeing it myself. That is the best that I can do. Your video card could be going bad. Try another video card on that monitor. This will be the only way to decide if it is the card or monitor.

Tech T.V. That brings back memories.
As they would probably tell you. Monitors are very dangerous. The cost of a new monitor is not as much as your life is if it kills you to try ti repair it yourself. Capacitors inside of the monitors can hold power for a long time even when it is uplugged. I personally do not try to repaire dead monitors, and the only people that could are T.V. Technitions. Best thing to tell you wuold be to call a T.V. person, but the cost will be not worth it. Good luck and do not kill yourself.

Will not cme on

Hi
Firstly - Is the cabling, mains and data cable, securely attached at both ends and the power turned on at the mains?
Secondly - If so when you press the monitor power button, does a light come on? (often orange coloured) If yes does this change colour when the computer starts its boot sequence? (often to green or blue)?
If no light can be obtained it is likely that the monitor is faulty.
If a light comes up on power up, but doesn't change colour during the computer boot sequence then it is more likely to be the graphics card that is faulty, or sometimes the computer PSU.
The easiest way to find out whether the computer or monitor is at fault is to replace the existing monitor with a monitor that is known to be in full working order, for example from another computer. (Or connecting your monitor to a computer that is known to be working)
Having isolated the faulty component it can be replaced and you should be up and running again.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers

ViewSonic 19" flat screen monitor goes black - intermittently

Hi,
There could be a problem with your display card settings or the display card itself. If you are using Windows operating system, make sure that you have the monitor driver installed for that specific monitor. This is to ensure that Windows only allows settings for which your particular monitor was designed.
Let me know if I can assist you any further regarding this.
Best wishes,
Graemevm

My Envision 7100 Stop Working

These are all some component failure problem in the monitor circuits. This may have been caused by faulty components or overheating of the components causing intermittent or permanent failure of some components in the circuits. This causes the feedback circuits to sense incorrect voltages or currents in the circuits and turn on the protection circuit. It may also cause total failure of the power supply circuit and a loss of power to the monitor. These units should be returned to dealers for servicing. Hope this helps you .

Computer boots fine but the monitor is blank

if the monitor works fine on your laptop, the problem definitely is at the computer, possibly with the video card (if it is using one). it could have loose connection, or parts might have damages. it seems the problem is intermittent so electronic component of the video card could have parts partially damages or leaky components.
if your still using the motherboards built in video out put, try installing a new video card.

No Power

Turn off the monitor (and for safety the pc). Unplug the monitor from the PC. check the cable and the port for dust or particles. Check the whole cable from end to end for any tearing of the sheeth. Have any pets that like to chew things by chance? This may help us get started. If you blow on the cable end and the port on the PC, that may due the trick. It may also release any static charge that could have built up.

NEC P1250+ hisses and scrren blips intermittently

I had the same problem. Your monitor is warning you of failure. The hissing sound is the picture tube powering up. The momentary blank screen is when the power supply for the monitor has become hot. Your monitor is getting ready to quit. My suggestion is to buy a new monitor. To have a tech repair it would be more expensive then buying a new one.
