Question about Microsoft LifeCam VX-6000 Webcam

Windows life chat vx 6000 cam wont work on aim

I recently installed microsoft lifecam vx 6000
it runs fine on itsown, and works on yahoo messenger, but every time i try it on aim it says that it is in use by another program. the audio works on a live video feed, but the video doesnt show up.

I have tried going to the windows task manager and closing all related applications and processes and starting again, and restarting the computer. when i go to the aim menu to edit preferences on the webcam is still says its in use, but.... it obviously isnt if the audio is working.

its not aim itself, because i already uninstalled it, and installed the latest version as a result of this, and its still the same thing.

so if you could help me, thatd be great

There's no driver or independent software to use with this cam. It has to be used with other software like windows or yahoo live messenger, AIM or skype, etc

Have you tried to set up the webcam via yahoo or MSN. Go to the options menu and select webcam. It should ask you to select a device to use as your webcam. If it is available select your webcam and continue setup. You will have to do this with both yahoo and MSN

Unable to chat on AIm with camera that is already set up

Which ever Messenger or Skype you are using has to be setup in order to function. Same way wih AIM. Normal 0 I'll assume that you are using YAHOO MESSENGER and walk you through the setup. All Messengers and Skype have an Audio & Video setup in them so the camera and microphone work properly with their program.
Bring up Yahoo Messenger and on the top left click on MESSENGER.
Then click on "Messenger Preferences."
Next in Category click on "CALLIN & DEVICES."
When that comes up check and check to see that Microphone is set to your audio card.
Next insure that the speakers are set to you audio card.

Then go to "Test Audio"
In Blue "Open the call setup Assistant"
When the window opens follow the instructions. When finished your camera audio should function properly.

Also you need to go to the Video setup and do the same so it will broadcast the pictures.
Hope this helps. Bud

Lifecam VX-6000

Uninstall the Microsoft LifeCam and disconnect your camera.
Go to this site: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/435/241&cl=us,en

Download the software for the QuickCam Ultra Vision 5. Save to your hard disk and then run the program.
Reinstall the LifeCam software and then plug in the camera. LifeCam will use the Logitech Drivers and your camera should work fine.
