Question about Nextar MA833A5S MP3 Player
I have a nextar mp3 512MB.
It use to work perfectly fine and then one day it started acting silly. Sometimes when I turn it on, it doesnt want to and an hour glass will show up, then maybe turn off. Sometimes it will got to the changing modes area but then it will freeze. If I DO get to get to my songs, it lasts about a mintue before it freezes, goes back to the hourglass, or completely shuts off. I wont do anything when I plug it into the computer anymore, and now sometimes it wont even turn on. I dont know what to do. :(

I had the same problem and the Nextar support line couldn't fix it. They said send it back. To much hassle so I kept pushing buttons and finally figured it out. The player was not in the play music mode, but the record mode somehow. Screen read DVR, not MP3. Try pushing and holding the mode button in, not in the direction of the arrows, but straight into the housing. Hold if for a while and then you will enter the world of settings, voice recordings, music playing and much more. Good luck and I hope this helps!

Make sure you have a compatible version of Windows:
the compatible versions (and the user manual) can be found at:

There are several possibilities:
1) The songs you are trying to load to the Mp3 player are not compatible with the Nextar - a good test for this would be to connect your Nextar to the PC, open Windows Media Player, and click the Library tab, then the Sync tab - if a little blue "i" appears next to the song, it will not work with your Nextar. In fact, any song that is not in mp3 format or unprotected WMA (very few WMA's are unprotected unless you Ripped them directly from CD) will not play in the Nextar.
2) You have the Hold switch engaged - unlock it
3) The PC's you are trying to connect it to are running Windows Vista - not compatible with Nextar

That player is officially toast. There is no recovery software or firmware upgrades for that device - once the key system file is delted, it cannot be recovered.

you have the play mode set to "intro",
how to solve this;
1) start playing a song.
2)Press the "Mode" button quickly, don't hold it down, just press it quick.
3)Select Play Mode by pressing the Mode button
4)Select "N" normal
