Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

I cannot locate topo maps loaded via sd card

Hello,

If you have the TOPO maps loaded to an SD card and the card is inserted all you should have to do is go to Tools > Settings > Map > Info in this menu you will find your map sets if you see TOPO make sure it is activated if not you may need to re install them to the SD.

Hope this helps!

Have just received my garmin gb topo dvd and the 8 letter code would not work. used a 25 digit code and it said i had unlocked it ok but my garmin etrex keeps saying cant unlock maps? any ideas?

I have had this problem before. You have to make sure you have the proper map data selected in Mapsource before you start selecting data to download to the GPS. I had multiple maps loaded into Mapsource but they weren't all unlocked for the multiple GPSs that I own. if I got the licenses mixed up between the units it wouldn't work. There should be a setting in your option menus.

Can't view downloaded sections from Garmin Topo

In Map Setup page, scroll over to blue 'ball' icon (second from right), press lower left button on side of GPS unit, use Thumb switch to scroll down to "Show None", click Thumb switch in. All maps will disappear. Press lower left button on side of GPS unit again, scroll down to "Show Topo.....", click Thumb switch in. Your Topo maps should now show onscreen.

The reason your Topo map might not have shown is because, if you leave the Navigator map showing, and then just press "Show Topo", the layer showing Topo will still be under the Navigator map. This is why I always tell it to show none, and then load whatever map I need to see onto a bare screen.

If this solved your problem, please come back and rate our answer as this assists others. Thank you.

GPS position is offset from map location

This could be because your datum and your posistion format. Under your menu go to setup, then units and make sure you have the correct info set in there for your area. NAD27 Canada would be the one you are looking for. Give that a try and see if it works. If it is still off, consult the manuals that came with your topo and see if it says what datum it uses.

Topo maps a mess of meaningless lines

Sorry for late reply. You need to select an area on your topo map prior to downloading it. For example, if you plan to go to Algonquin Bice Lake (access point 4), then you need to select the map around the area (starting from) Kearney upto the Magnetawan Lake and beyond. Mark waypoints from the put-in to the campsite on Bice Lake (best to compare of the topo and Algonquin canoeing map). Then you can click Transfer, click Send to Device (GPS 76cs should appear) to download it. On the GPS, enter the Find Waypoint button and you should be able to see those waypoints. Good luck for your next trip.

When I submit my voucher code and try to send it to Garmin I get the eroor message: Error accessing the Internet (12038)

I had the same problem. Through a process of trial and error (firewalls, Google searches) I stumbled on my own solution.

I went to the Garmin website and logged in to the user account I had previously created when first registering the GPS unit I was going to use the MapSource data with.

One of the options when you have logged in is to unlock Map software. I went through several screens, entered my voucher code and then got the 25 digit unlock code. Hey presto, MapSource now working.

Not sure whether you can create an account without having a product to register, but this may help if you do have an account.
