Contact Husqvarna HQ in your country directly if you get no response here.......we are a Janome dealership, and I would always ask Central Office for answers to this sort of question.........it will save you loads of time to go direct.......ask to speak with technical support, or the education officer.

Setting tensions

Adjust your top tension if it's too tight. To decrease your top tension if it is too tight, turn your knob so the numbers are decreasing. Try ½ to 1 number lower, then test the stitches on a piece of scrap fabric. Continue until it looks even on both sides and you can no longer see the bottom thread on the top.

Fashion Mate 248. The top stitch is fine but will gather too much under the material. Wraps around the bobbin holder and tangle up into the bobbin thread. Does anybody know whats going on?

That is what is referred to as bird nesting or thread nesting. It usually results from mis-threading, the thread not being fully seated in the tension disk, or the tension set too loose. (I have a machine that does this frequently because the thread "jumps" out of the take up lever when sewing fast--instant thread mess.)

Remove the thread from the machine. ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning. Make sure the thread path is correct. Set the upper tension to the midway point between high & low number. (You will probably need to tweak the upper tension because every machine differs over time, but the midway point is the factory standard setting.)

While you are at it, check to make sure the bobbin is loaded and threaded correctly in the bobbin case.

If you continue to have issues, you may need to take it for service.

Machine reverse running

Have you followed your user guide instructions re making needed setting adjustments back to a sewing mode? Have you checked the guide for instructions on 'resetting to factory default' so that you can reprogramme?
If the above doesn't help, have you tried a 'shock reboot'? Start by turning on machine on and let it sit for a few minutes then without turning it off, pull the power plug from the electrical outlet. Wait five minutes then reconnect and turn on your machine - it should have defaulted back to factory settings. You'll lose your saved stitches but your machine should function properly again.
If that doesn't get your machine sewing forward, something the wee man did snapped something inside the machine (usually a gear and the things are easier to 'snap' than people realise) and it's time for a trip to the repair tech.
Be sure the tech has experience working on the Memory Craft series - great machines but the 4000 is a 'retired' computerised machine and unless you choose a 'factory trained - authorised' may not be qualified to work on vintage (sewer speak for 'retired' models) computerised machines.....

Change the fuse in the plug failing that it could be the inline fuse inside the machine normally near where you plug the lead in, if youcan get to that it is a matter of changing it, and the Hoop must be detachedwhen powering on! Otherwise it will not start. Hope this will help you. Good Luck.

This definitely is a programming error on the machine. The problem is from the machines computer processor. The unit suffers repeated cycles. As regards the cost to get it fixed i cant give specifics because depending on the level of damage to the processor it might need replacement or just a little cleaning. But generally the fixing should not cost above $50 -$75 and this compared to the cost of replacing means it should be worth it.
Although if you dont give it to a qualified personnel they might end up spoiling the unit more so i advice you look for a good expert and get them to fix it for you. The local dealership would be a good place to get a referral for an expert.
Hope this support has been helpful?

The timing is set on the lower shaft on the left end. Needle bar rise is 2.5mm. Check your timing belt tension to prevent this in the future.
