If yo want to load the recovery disc, you need to find a way to open your cd drive and place the recovery disc in there. then turn the computer off, leave it for 5 seconds, turn it on again, press F8 continuously and choose 'boot from cd'. follow the instructions on screen. if this still does not work, you may need to upgrade ram, or you have bad sectors on your harddrive that has been caused by corrupt programs or viruses. Hope this helped.

I have asus laptop. When I try to start it up it says 'reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press any key'

The laptop can not find an operating system, Windows or some other system, which means that the operating system has been corrupted. If you made a recovery disc you will need to put it in the DVD and reboot. If you did not make a recovery disc or thumb drive you will need a disc with the operating system on it.

This recovery process helps you restore the C: drive with the original software content that is installed when you purchase your notebook. Follow the steps below to rebuild your C: drive. Before performing a restore operation, please check the BIOS settings.
1. Check to see if Acer disk-to-disk recovery is enabled or not.
2. Make sure the D2D Recovery setting in Main is Enabled.
3. Exit the BIOS utility and save changes. The system will reboot.
Note: To activate the BIOS utility, press during POST (Power On Self Test).
To start the recovery process:
1. Restart the system.
2. While the Acer logo is showing, press + at the same time to enter recovery process.
3. Refer to the onscreen instructions to perform system recovery.
