There are several issues that can cause this most common is the vent restricted backing up heat in the dryer if its as old as you say you need to check the whole vent system it has to be 4inches dia all the way if its mashed or drooping under the house its restricted if its folded over or mashed behind the dryer its restricted the thermal limiter is a safety thermostat it opens about 300 degrees to prevent fire the dryer has three thermostats an operating thermostat a safety thermostat and the thermal limiter if the operating thermostat fails then the safety thermostat takes over and cycles on about 165 on and off if both thermostats fail then the thermal limiter opens about 220-300 depending and it doesn't reset and cuts all the power to the dryer till a tech can check everything i just told you about so if your vent is clear and the best way to vent is 4inch pvc drain pipe 90 it up behind the drier then connect with a short peice of metel vent then just replace all three thermostats

Check the vent to make sure that it is not obstructed
check the frount panel of the dryer, disasemble it to make sure that there is no lint inside the filter housing
check the foam seal arround the blower housing
check the blower wheel to see it is not striped
chek the door seal for a tear
operating thermastat kiking off right

most of the time the issue with the limit blowing is a venting problem i would go there first

Dryer has power wont start

Hello Dom - Being that you have narrow down some possibilities, here are a few simple troubleshooting tips that may help you get to the root cause:

1. Make sure the dryer is plugged into outlet, and plugged in correctly.

2. Is house fuse blown or circuit breaker tripped? Replace fuse or re-set circuit breaker.
3. Make sure that electrical circuit is not overloaded and correct. The dryer must be on a circuit by itself. Overloaded circuits can damage the dryer and possibly cause damage to home. I would recommend reaching out to a Licensed Electrician check to make sure it is on a circuit by itself.

4. Thermal limiter tripped or an internal problem with the dryer. A thermal limiter automatically turns off the motor (electric dryers only) in the unlikely event of an overheated situation.A service technician must replace the thermal limiter after correcting the fault.

If these assessment measures prove to be ineffective, I would strongly suggest contacting an authorized service technician who would be better able to assist you in the diagnosis and repair of your unit. You can often locate an experienced technician in your area by going to the manufacturer website.

I have a FDE336re2 frigidaire dryer. I have replaced 3 thermal limiter switches and the 3204267 Frigidaire Dryer Safety Thermostat. The exhaust is clear. I operated the machine with the entire top lid...

Try running the dryer with out the vent hose connected see if the problem persists. This will eliminate the ventilation system of your home from the equation. Then if problem persists must gointo the dryer.

Frigidaire electric dryer model gleq2152es1 lights wont turn on and wont do anything

Hi ana piedranayari05, this is AP! Thank you for your post

I understand you are having trouble with your Frigidaire electric dryer not turning on. Make sure the dryer is still plugged into the outlet, and plugged in correctly. Also check to see if the house fuse is blown or circuit breaker tripped? If so, Replace fuse or re-set circuit breaker. Check to make sure that electrical circuit is not overloaded and correct. The dryer must be on a circuit by itself. Overloaded circuits can damage the dryer and possibly cause damage to home. Have a licensed electrician check to make sure it is on a circuit by itself. Additionally, the thermal limiter could have tripped or possibly an internal problem with the dryer. A thermal limiter automatically turns off the motor in the unlikely event of an overheated situation. A service technician must replace the thermal limiter after correcting the fault. If you have check the plug, fuses, and circuit breaker and still no power I would recommend contacting a local technician to diagnose and service your electric dryer.

My dryer will run but will not get hot. The trouble shooting guide says that on of the two house fuses in the circuit may be blown or the thermal limiter is tripped. Where are the fuses in the dryer. I...

First id make sure you have both phase of AC power coming into dryer.
Go to your house panel and reset yoru house breaker for the dryer. If in the USA the breaker should be a 240volt / 30amp breaker. It will have two breakers tied together at the trip switch.
If AC power is good at the dryer outlet then it could be one of the followings.

  1. Open Thermal limit fuse or trip switch.
  2. Open Heater Element.
  3. Control board is faulty.

Thermal limiter stops dryer; replaced multiple times. Dryer dead.

I think you are working on the wrong end. Check the fan and inlet ductwork of the dryer, if the air isn't moving properly, it will not move enough to keep the coils and limiters cool and they will fail after working properly a few times.

Dryer not hot

Tht means that the element is not heating on.

You need to call a technician to test the element, the thermic sensor, and the control assembly.

The most likely is a defective heating element, that must be replaced.

My frigidaire dryer only blows cold air

You either have a tripped safety switch, a burnt element, or a burnt/loose wire to/from the element and or safety switches/controlls.

If you are handy, and have the tools, it should be a fairly easy repair.

You will need a volt/ohm meter to check the element for continuity, the safelty limit switches for continuity to lacate which part is the problem. (some switches are push button resset, some are one time trip and must be replaced.

The second issue is what caused it to quit in the first place.

The #1 cause for that type of failure, is lack of airflow due to a clogged vent pipe.

Make sure the filter, dryer outlet, pipt and outlet from the house is all clear from lint, birds nests, kinks etc.
