Question about SanDisk Sansa e250 MP3 Player

1 Answer

Does not recognize

My computer does not seem to recognize my SanDisk 1GB Mp3 player. When I plug it in, the computer "dings" as if it is recognizing the device, however it does not appear under My Computer or anywhere else I can find. It was working well yesterday. My computer will not recognize my sansa player. All I get is the blue lit ring on my player , and a black screen, and when I connect to the computer it does not even notice something is attache to it. I tried the hold, and rec button thing but the computer still won't show it under my computer. It has been like this for a month now. i did connect it once , and have it show up, and I tried running the download program, and the screen displayed some text, but it then suddenly cut off, and has not worked again since. Any advice to fix this is greatly appreciated.

The dinging sound is the USB port telling Windows that a device is connected, and does not necessarily mean that Windows recognizes a device.

Are you using Windows Media Player 10 or higher?

Won't start--No Sandisk display.

Download and install the firmware updater.
If that doesn't resolve, your player may really have a hardware issue. The battery is not replaceable by the consumer. My reccomendation is to exchange it with the store. If that fails, redeem your warranty through Sandisk (hope you saved your receipt).

Comment by vickisanchez, posted on Mar 19, 2008 IT FINALLY WORKS !!!!

Sandisk Tech support had me do the following:

- Turn it OFF
- Put it in the HOLD position
- HOLD the center button IN while plugging into USB port, continue to hold for 5 to 7 sec even after plugged in.
At this point MY COMPUTER recognized it. And it worked.

He also had me to:

- go to WWW.MICROSOFT.COM
- In the upper right hand search bar, type in MTP PORTING KIT
I did this and downloaded the first one. Now my Sansa Clip work perfect. I wish I would have talked to him last week before I returned the last one, for the same reasons.

If this does not help call the 1-800 # , opt #4, and ask for GUY (yes that is really his name) out of 5 or so calls to Tech Support he is the only one who knew what he was doing, and how to actually HELP.
GOOD LUCK
