Try adding more RAM
Adding more ram will boot applications / games quicker
If you're not sure if a module is right for your system, use the Crucial Memory Advisor tool for a list of guaranteed compatible modules.

First you will need to select the manufacturer from a drop down list then select your product line from a drop down list then select the model then click find it will take you directly to compatible ram also you will have an option to scan your system

You should always ask or get working pairs in a ram upgrade some ram modules wont work together even if they are of the same brand and type ie: DDR ,DDR 3

Checking Amount of RAM

Click on "My Computer" and select "Properties" using right-click in the Explorer window.
This will open "Systems Properties."

Click on the "General" tab.
Here you can view the physical memory installed on your computer.

The amount indicated is the total RAM installed on your computer.
RAM is usually 32 MB, 64 MB or 128 MB in older PC versions.

Newer PCs are usually equipped with 256 MB, 512 MB or even higher RAM.
Check the usage.

To know the currently used RAM (based on programs you are running), open the taskbar or press "Ctrl + Alt + Del" to open a pop-up window. Click on "Task Manager."

Click the "Performance" tab.
You can view the amount of memory currently used by each program running on your PC.

Downloaded latest adobe flash player but iplayer still wont play?

Things they don't tell you

When installing the newest version of Adobe Flash Player, it will NOT automatically uninstall the old version.

If the old version is still there, the new version will not install.

Fun stuff, huh?

Use the Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller tool.

http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html

Go down to -
1. Download the uninstaller for Flash Player,
and click on the blue - uninstaller (674KB)

A small window will come up on the Right -
Opening uninstall_flash_player.exe
Click on Save File.

Another small window will come up on the left. (Download window)
After the file has fully downloaded, DOUBLE-click on it.
Click on Next, Next, and Finish.

Run the tool.
When finished restart your computer if not asked to do so.
Now go here,

http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

[NOTE*
Suggest clicking on the box to the left of -
Yes, install McAfee Security Scan Plus, ya-da, ya-da.
Removes the green checkmark.
McAfee bl-ows, and just slows your computer down anyway ]

I'm different. I use Mozilla Firefox. Don't care for Chrome, and sure don't care for Internet Explorer.

Need to reboot computer,windows98,invalid disk error

You have to go into your BIOS and select booting from Disk not hard drive when i say disk i mean either the cdrom or dvd disk players attached to your motherboard. also you can get a boot disk to try that at the link below.

Compag presario sr2050nx with antivirus live issues, please help

This is a very nasty problem to get rid of. If you are able, I would recommend taking your system in to a reputable repair location to have removed. If you are okay with probing around and playing with the registry in your computer, then you might try the steps outlined in this link. Be warned, if you make a mistake following these steps, it can cause more harm than good to your computer up to the point of crashing your computer and loosing all information on it.

I also recommend reading through the whole process to make sure you understand everything including the posts at the bottom.

My computer is slow and the is not reading or burning CD/DVD

Slow computer problem would be different then that non reading disks. Slow computer could happen in many cases, a virus is taking up all the memory, or defragmented hard disk, programs that required more memory and cpu speed. CD, DVD could fail to read due to loose cable, BIOS setup or damaged drive.

COMPUTER KEEPS ON REBOOTING ITSELF.

It could be driver problem. But if even almost all mode of boot doesn't help. Your options are repair, restore to factory settings or reinstalls depends on the features your system has for recovery. In old ways we just reformat it and reinstall all, backup cd always on standby.

If harddrive has a fault like many bad sector. We replace the drive.

As for your other system I will say that sometimes updates are not helpful enough. In old days of xp we are not updating, commonly we just update antivirus definitions. We experienced slow down and system crashes. We just install some enhancement software in exchange for some features of xp.

If I miss something just post a comment.

I have a gateway GM5442 computer. Lately it has been giving me a warning that the power supply cord or something has been diconnected and I don,t even know what it looks like.

Usually you get messages like this when there have been temporary power outges and your computer gets shut off abruptly.
I wouldn't worry too much unless the computer acts weird when you start it up.
