sqeak is caused by a dried up roller bearing that keeps the belt tight that turns the drum around
Get the belt and bearing which will come installed on a new belt tensioner puller at Sears at a good price
Replacingf the belt at the same time is highly recomended
either the belt is worn and causing this or one of the pulleys on the motor may be causing this if the belt is good remove the belt and test the diff pulleys by spining them with your hand wiggling each one and see if they are loose. hope this helps
Unplug The Dryer! I took my panels off a squeaky dryer and had to pull the drum out and Vaseline the shaft and the hole it come out of, keep track of some wires you may have to pull off, so you slip'em on in the same places you pulled em from, put it all back together and if done correctly you'll have your peace while doing laundry again. good luck
greetings,
the most likely answer is the belt pulley..the rollers can also make noise, but they usually will make a thump thump noise..remove belt pulley and lubricate and see if this helps
this noise is usually due to the ideler pulley going bad and should be replaced but until then take the back off and spray the pulley with some sillicone
First, the screeching noises are probably from your belt tensioner wearing out and needing replacement. Or the belt is not properly seated on the tensioner and needs readjustment. No biggie there.
BUT...
If you have to keep the start button pressed for the dryer to keep spinning, you may have bad centrifugal switch. That switch is built into your dryer motor. Therefore, the motor will have to be replaced... BIGGIE!
