Question about Dell Inspiron 1501 Notebook

1 Answer

Unidentified network I can't connect to my office network it kept saying unidentified network when I did connect and limited capability. And so I got on the phone with Dell thinking it was my card but No dell confirmed my computer was working fine. I can connect at home but not when I get to the office. The Dell guy said to enable my office network, turn off the router for 10 secs and now I can't even see the wireless network at all. Any idea's I?m desperate.

Your office network is probably hidden you will need to change the settings on the router. Talk to your Net Admin about it.

On my WIndows 7 computer it shows that my wireless is connected, but it also says, "Unidentified Network, no internet access" and I can't get on

Click on the network icon (five vertical bars, next to the speaker icon, bottom right of screen). When network window opens, click on name of network. If a blank box opens with a message asking for the network key, enter the security code that you entered after the WEP setting on initial installation.

If this doesn't work then I suggest that you re set the modem to factory default and go through the initial set up again, choosing a new name for the network.

Additional network Vista after

Hi Friends..

The Problem is seem because you are using LAN Port and your Wifi also on.and its finding and connecting any other open network near is you home or office. but its not connected (may the IP address or other security reason) so its showing Limited connectivity.

So the solution is your problem.if your are using LAN port then switch of you Wifi network.

If you install any other VPN or client connecting software then uninstalled that one.

Dell inspiron. "unidentified network" problem

Try disabling firewall software that must be preventing access to network. disable and reenable the lan card might also help

Unidentified network which has limited connectivity

You're network card may be disabled, and that would be why you are unable to connect to yout network/the internet through your network card, to check this go to your network settings, right click on the "Local Area Connection" and if the option is there to "enable" then click it because your card has been disabled, if disable is there in stead then I'm stumped. with regards to "unidentified network" This usually comes up when someone has a wireless network created, but they have the settings made to not broadcast (show) the SSID (name) of the network. This is done for extra security, because in order for someone to connect to the wireless signal they need to know the type of encryption used, the key or passphrase for the encryption and on top of that the network name. Limited connectivity means that you are "connected" only in the sense that you can see the network connection, but you are unable to do anything with it.

If it says local or unidentified network that means you are just connected to the router on the network but not through the internet. Try to go to manage wireless network, remover your network there and add it again, connect to your own network and make sure to type the correct network key., then check again. You can also try connecting to other wireless network to further isolate the problem.
