The piece that holds the needle has come off the machine

The metal attachment that holds the needle has come off the rod and to be frank I do not see how it attaches.

I am having the same problem and can not figure out how to get that thing back on! I use my sewing machine quite often and am at a loss. I wanted to try to fix it myself if possible, but I don't know if I can.

Generally, there will be a cut out inside the 'needle clamp' that will allow it to only go on the 'needle arm' one way 'round as it slides over the shaft.

The screw to tighten generally comes in from Right to Left.

If this does not help entirely, try taking a look at any other machine, mum's, friend's, in a store....etc and take note of the arrangement.

If you have a friendly local sewing shop where you buy threads etc, ask if they could show you.......plead accident, unattended young fingers, whatever......the easiest is to compare a good one ans see how it should be.

Hope this is of some little use.

My brother 120V needle will not move up and down. The small metal rod that moves the parts/needle is no longer attached to anything that should make it turn. How do I fix this problem?

I don't know anything about your older machine model, but the Yahoo group Wefixit has a lot of DIY members who seem to know a lot about repairing and restoring older sewing machine models...and where to buy parts.

I cant get my needle position to move to the left or the right

The long arm is attached to the needle arm.
1. Move the needle arm right and left with your finger. Is there any resistance? There should be. If not, a spring that is supposed to be attached to the long gray rod has came loose.
2. The spring will be attached so it pulls towards the round cogs (bumpy things).
3. Mechanical sewing machines are very similar. There is a possibility that your adjustment lever has screws came loose.
4. By moving the needle arm back and forth you can monitor what is going on to get a clue of what may be wrong.

Bar that hold the sewing foot is loose

If the comment already posted did not answer your question, here is another thing to check. If the screw that attaches the foot and ankle to the presser foot bar is tight, and the foot can still be moved, it is likely that the presser foot bar has become loose within the lifting mechanism. You could save yourself some trouble by taking your machine to a sewing machine repair shop, but if you would rather avoid that expense, do the following. Remove the needle bar and take up mechanism cover on the left side of the machine. This is held on by a single phillips head screw on the back side of the machine, which, with the back of the machine facing you, should be on the top right side of the machine. Once this cover is removed you will be able to see two vertical metal shafts, one is attached to your needle clamp and needle, and should be in the front. The other is the presser foot bar, and will be behind the needle bar. There should be a small allen screw about halfway up that shaft that tightens onto the bar. With the presser foot properly positioned on the needle plate, tighten this allen screw. Don't tighten the screw too tightly, as this can damage the presser bar, just make sure it's nice and snug. Make sure the presser foot raises and lowers properly, and re-attach the needle bar cover.
Hope this helps.

Neddle screw wont tighten neddle in

There is a small metal rod about 1/2" long that fits into the hold in front of the screw that holds the needle secure. I didn't realize that I had dropped the rod until I could not tighten the needle. I found the rod, put it into the hole and was able to tighen the needle.

My presser foot won't snap on to my White 3032

It sounds as though you are missing the ankle which is the part the foot attaches to. The ankle attaches to the metal rod with a screw and the foot snaps onto the ankle.

There is a set screw above the needle pin screw which tightens with an allen wrench--try that.

Bobbin casing for elna 8000

There is one small metal piece 3/4 inch long and shaped like the letter "T" that fits under the right hand needle plate snap one screw. Attach to underneath square nut and can be seen sticking out from the top holding the bobbincase in place after the top plate is replaced and everything is back together. If this is not it, a picture would help as I have repair 100's of Elna 5000 to 9000's.

The long metal bar that comes vertical from the machine that the needle fits into is the "needle bar". The piece at the bottom of the needle bar that secures the needle is the "needle clamp"
