You might try turning the power off, then unplugging the unit.  After approximately one minute, plug the unit back in.  Wait five seconds, then press the power button.  Wait two seconds, then press the open/close button slowly five times.
It is also a good idea to clean the front and back of your DVDs on a regular basis with alcohol.  Wipe the DVDs side to side, not in a circular motion.

Insert tray in Phillips cd rewritable drive

If the tray is out of alignment you may as well replace the entire DVD R/W device. Even if you manage to reset the alignment, the read/write head may be misaligned and recording messed up. A new drive is only $30

Daewoo S04 DVD won't open

The tray is blocked. Unplug and open the player's casing and check for any obstructions and remove it. It might be a disc or something. Check also the gear as you can hear the motor running but the tray don't open.moz-screenshot.png

Disc Tray Will Not Eject

Just next to the eject button on the actual recorder there should be a tiny pinhole.  If you use a small paperclip and insert it, then push, you should be able to manually eject the DVD.  Hope this helps!
