You need to remove the roller brush assembly (clean and lightly oil {3-1 or similar} the end bearings), then slide the new belt over the brush and locate the belt on the lifter device that places the belt over the motor shaft when using the carpet sweeper. Pay attention to the half twist in the belt when installing--there is a cast-in diagram for this in the sweeper attachment. Hope this helps!

My belt keeps slipping off.. I bought a new belt for the model of my vacuum but it still slides off

Check that the motor and the beater are seated properly. If they are not square to each other then the belt may walk sideways.

Broken belt dyson Dc41

Belt was broken, so I had to go inside the motor assembly -- torx screws all the way. The problem is finding a replacement belt without buying a whole new power drive.

I bought the Bissell Heavy Duty in Jan 2009 and now the brush will not rotate. I have gone through all the trouble shooting procedures and it still does not work. Is my vacuum under a one year warranty? If...

if the brush does not rotate when it is in use, chances are the belt is broken. Belts are common to break and should be replaced once a year under normal use. (once a week) and heavier use, more times per year.

If the brush itself is not rotating, meaning you took it out of the machine and it physically does not spin, then you may need to replace the brush with a new one. You can possibly get one at your nearest vacuum repair center.

Good luck.

Model 3590 roller not turning

There is a small rubber belt that connects to motor and the roller. It is common that this belt will break or wear and needs replacement. However, you must check the roller to see if it turns (spins ) freely. If it is stiff, then a new belt will be ruined in minutes. You must replace or clean the bearings at the ends of the roller (sometimes easy-sometimes hard). This roller must turn easy so the belt can do its job.
Replacement parts are easily available. I bought a roller with new bearings for a hoover about 4 months back----cost $13. and af course a new belt for $2.20. Goodluck< MAcgivor

Hoover Vacuum works, then stops in 3-5 mins. Works again in a couple of hours

sounds like the motor is overheating .check and see if the brush roller is turning when its on.if its hard to turn or won't turn at all take it back where you bought it and insist on a new one.my thoughts on new items is if you buy something new then it shouldn't have to be fixed.insist on it.please leave feedback...pete

MY VACUUM IS NOT PICKING UP

Hi This is quite complicated but I'll try and simplify this for you:
If this is a Panasonic upright then there are two drive belts as you know. Once you take off the sole plate (where the beater bar is) by undoing screws and the beater bar is looking at you, you would have to take off the smaller belt motor pulley first before putting on a new larger drive belt. If the smaller belt is still intact and you only need to replace the larger belt, you'll still have to take off both belts to put on the new drive belt.
Motor pulley belt has to be taken off first then the old drive belt, then grasp the beater and slide on new larger drive belt before having to attach the motor pulley belt and then the larger belt onto the motor pulley. Once all belts have been attached ensure that the beater bar is pushed in correctly before you screw the sole plate back on.
