Exilim underexposed

Making copies of old photographs sometimes requires special lights and equipment such as polarizing filters and specials polarized lights, If you are using available light you automatic exposure system in the camera is probably selecting a slow shutter speed thus resulting in blur. or perhaps overexposure.
Quick method- Take to picture out of doors in hazy sunlight or open shade, hold the camera firmly and try the shot again. If that does not work- tell me what kind of camera you are using and how and where you are shootin.

D50, blury pics

Blur can occur if the shutter speed is too low relative to the degree of movement of your subject(s). While the 'sports' mode favors shutter speed and adjusts the focus for moving subjects, you may still need to increase the ISO (I'm not sure the camera does that automatically), or use flash, if feasible.
Alternatively, try panning the camera with your moving subject. This should blur the background, but keep the subject from blurring.
Finally, keep in mind that in sports photography, blur is sometimes a desired outcome that produces a sense of motion in an otherwise static photo.

Hope that helps.

Blury Display on FE140

It sounds like your lens's focus element is stuck. Given the events you describe it is possible that a grain of sand has worked its way into the focus motor's gearing and jammed it up. Normally the small motor moves the focus optic in and out to achieve proper focus, if its movement is limited or completely jammed you will experience blurry pictures. The camera will have to be disassembled and the sand cleaned out to restore normal function. There are repair providers you can find online who can work on your camera.
