Re: What type of ac adapter do I need for the av700
I would suggest to check the plug on the av700 and see the polarity, it might be indicated there.
In regards to using any adapter, you could as long is the same polarity. The original adapter is 6 Volts and 2 Amperes.

Hello, If the Usb is not damaged first Try to connect to another mac system and check if it recognises the device...If not the Usb of the device is damaged!!..For your additional information!!..
The USB Port of the AV700 can be configured as "Hard Disc" or
"Windows Device". Your Mac will recognize the device only if it is on
Hard Drive mode. You can change the USB Port configuration of the device, in the menu Display Setup Screen > System> USB Port.
Please post back how things turned on or for further assistance..Thank you!!...
just a though I believe this follow is talking about his AV700E pocketdish trouble. I am here now with the same issue he is talking about AV700E pocketdish loads program video from the receiver onto the pocketdish, but when play on the pocketdish is selected it goes black screen and shuts down. Any advise?
Hi my nameis Mike Houston of DISH Network and I see you want to get your recordings offyour DVR receiver to a hard drive through your USB slot. Depending on thereceiver and external hard drive or device you have and you will need to makesure it meets all the requirements, if you are using the 522 or 625 DVRreceivers you can only use the Pocket DISH portable media players. Those modelsthat are compatible are; AV402E, AV500E and AV700E, if you have any questionsplease e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Hi. I had a similar problem, but cured it by getting a new PSU with a larger rating 4A. The digibox is now perfect, and earlier problems of lockups were also fixed. I suspect the original PSU wasn't really man enough for the job.
The new PSU (originally for flat screens) cost £9.99 incl postage from Ebay, from the seller AC Adapter Specialists. Delivery was prompt. Type is 12V 4A tft lcd screen monitor ac adapter. Check the DC outlet plug matches your digibox.
check around your diodes near the voltage regulation area for either a very bad diode or a direct short sometimes its near the resistor pack and very hard to see. But if it were me I would just change out the power supply and be done with it.
the specs for the 4100 require a 12volt 2.5amp adapter with a 5.5mm OD amd 2.5mm ID tip with positive in the center. I have a some 12volt 4.0amp adapters withy the proper tip and polarity. This would be far superior to the spec one and will run much cooler. I can let you have one for $15. If interested email me.
You could check the voltages yourself to see if they are low. The horizontal polarity needs about 19 volts and the vertical polarity about 14 volts to work properly. If those voltages are lower by 25%, the receiver might failed to scan and that is when it locks up because is trying to find signal. The other issue could be a defective power supply if the receiver does not work after that 4 hours. There could be some capacitors that lost their dielectric strength causing the drop in voltage.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Not sure if I understand your question. If the screen is a bunch of colors with some jagged lines it may have been cracked. I had mine for less than a week and dropped a clock on it. Not a happy camper. It can still be used for transport of video. I have an old sony monitor in my garage office. I load the AV700 from my computer and plug it into the monitor to watch videos in the garage.
