Hi Riccardo,

Maybe the rubber ring that is underneeth the boiler has become hard and inflexible. You can order a new rubber ring thru your local dealer.

Why is there water spraying from coffee head and surrounding area

Grind is too fine and the portafilter chokes when water hits the coffee; or the seal in the brewing head is shot.

If coffee is brewing out the side of the head then the group gasket needs to be replaced because it is damaged or there might be coffee grounds stuck to the gasket and it needs to be cleaned using a brush or you can also use cotton swabs.

How do you release the brewing head after removing the two allen bolts pleasse? It needs cleaning and I have a new seal to fit.

  1. release filter bolt
  2. remove filter
  3. release& remove the alien bolts in filter holder
  4. push it from side with screw deliver, you don't have nothing attached, it will come down
  5. once filter holder is out you clean it good specially the 4 holes in sides
  6. While removing the old seal you might need to be bit rough, to cut the seal if it is too hard and non elastic at all anymore.
  7. clean it good and brush the place of seal
  8. take the new seal with numbers(mark on the seal) up and put it in the place so that numbers are going up to group
  9. push it with hand a bit
  10. get the portafilter without filter
  11. and put it in left teeth >>> roll a bit like when you put it in place
  12. do the same with left one
  13. repeat action in both teeth and with filter
  14. Control the seal, if it fits good in place.
  15. Assemble everything back and drink one espresso as an reward for work.

My new Classic made perfect coffee for the first three weeks but now it sprays hot coffee in all directions from the delivery spout

Do you mean the spout OR do you mean the filter holder. If it sprays out too quickly from the outlet,it could be because the coffee is too dry, too coarsely ground or not compressed firmly enough in the filter. If it is spraying from around the filter holder it is probably old coffee grounds stuck on the rubber seal in the filter holder head (the part of the machine that the filter holder attaches to ) You can buy a special right angled brush for cleaning the rubber seal in place OR you can fold a washup sponge and use the corner to clean around the seal.

I have a gaggia classic. I've descaled it and kept it running well for a few years. It now won't let any water out of the coffee filter section - the frother is perfect, but no water is coming out of the...

Remove the screw and shower in the head, check shower for blockage, if it is covered with coffee, hold over an open flame to burn out coffee (easiest way to clean it). If it is clean and you can see through all holes then turn machine on and press brew button, if not water flow, then remove 2 allen wrench screws and check spring and valve(remove carefully) then try the brew button, if no water then blockage is on the inside of the machine use the pic below to clear it will be on the top of the head.

No water coming through the head after prime etc

I have the same problem. I disassembled the unit body from the boiler. There was some scale, which I cleaned out. However, everything was flowing through the orifices with gravity -- no need to use a pipe cleaner because nothing is clogged.

So then I started tracing the flow of water. There is only one thing between the boiler and the shower head: the solenoid valve (in diagram ER0182 part # 27).

Sure enough, the solenoid valve will not accept water through the orifice that would route it to the shower head. Of course, this is with the solenoid unplugged and removed from the system. I soaked the orifice end of the solenoid valve in some decalcifiying solution in the hope that the solenoid piston may be jammed with a bit of scale.

Now I'm going to reassemble and hope for the best. However, my guess is that my solenoid valve needs to be replaced. Everything else is working (pump, valves, tubes, etc.).

I will report back.
