Cannot select a lower bit depth in colour than 24 bit?
Our office just upgraded from a DR-5020C which had selectable 8, 12, 16, 24 bit colour bit depths, to a Canon DR9080C, which seems to have 24 bit colour only. This is crazy. I hope it is something that can be addressed with different drivers or something?
If they do only 24 bit, then it is a retrograde step for us and the two new 9080c machines will have to go back to the supplier and we will not use Canon any longer.

With better processors and large storage, higher color depth is the order of the day; however if you dont want higher color depth, you can convert the images after scanning. Ofcourse it requires an addl effort.

Ensure that the "BYPASS" button on the control panel is not illuminated. Make sure the "Standard Feeding " is selected in the driver. Try cleaning the lower separation roller. Make sure the separation roller is pressing up against the feed rollers. If the roller set is worn, order a replacement set of rollers (Google: Canon 9080 Exchange roller kit)
Ensure you have selected Duplex option. Canon DR 9080C uses LED lights and hence the chances of failure of light source is fairly low. Try scanning in Color. The scan module, if required, can be replaced and is available in the market between $600 to $750. Please ensure that the module is faulty before replacing. Disconnect the scanner from the computer. Uninstall driver software, shut down and restart the Comp. Reinstall the driver. (http://software.canon-europe.com/software/0036991.asp?model= ). connect the scanner and the system will report USB device plugged in. This should work. S. Mohan. Chennai, India
I would completely uninstall the software, unhook the hardware, reinstall software toy around with the program a bit at this point. If the software states it WILL scan in color, I would go to Manufacturers site and download the latest version of the software.
In Captureperfect, select page size as 'Scanners Maximum'. Select automatic paper size, check the output now. If you select bigger paper size and smaller paper, you will see lack output, outside the paper area.

to check the page count install the driver and setup the scanner as a "scanner device" on your computer. Once you have done that , go to the "control panel" than "scanners and printers". Right-click on the device that says "Cannon DR-9080C" and select "properties". The device information will appear, than select the "counter" tab on the information box; the scan count will be listed.
