Dell Inspiron 9200 PC Notebook will not power up. Lights come on about 5 sec then turn off.

Try these simple steps:

- remove the battery
- disconnect the ac adapter
- press and hold power button for 10 seconds
- plug the ac adapter in
- power on your system

If it doesn't power on, press Fn+Power button to launch the Diagnostic Utility

If diagnostics doesn't come up, your motherboard needs replacement.

My inspiron 9200 has a flashing amber light. It is the one on the right and it flashes four times, then keeps repeating. Thanks, john

It is an error code. Dell support can tell you what the exact code means but usually it is a graphics card, power supply, RAM, or motherboard issue. Hope this helps.

Dell 9200 desktop. New motherboard, recognizes DVD drive, won't recognize CD-RW. As machine boots, it does show the CD-RW on SATA port 2. Windows XP. Any suggestions? Fixing for a friend since Dell are...

1st question... does the cd-rw recognizes (read) standard cd's... if so it just a driver prob.. if not then find the incidence of the device in the Device manager, delete it and restart thecomputer. Also.. you may go to the dell website and re install any available driver. One last measure... rare but sometimes the connection are loose and not seated properly..

Turn off the computer, unplug, open case push on ALL the connectors and are seated..(including memory)....

If all that fails then its a bad drive... also rare but a lot more common with mass produced comp. It may still be under warranty and at worst ;you may have to pay ship and handling.

pleas email and notify fixya if this helps.
