Question about Televison & Video
I had repair man out to look at tv. had no red colour. he showed me that the light just above the board lit up on the green and blue, but not the red. He said I needed a new crt. does this sound accurate?? how do I replace this myself. I have researched as much as possible without becoming a tv repairman myself, and have taken apart much of the tv to get all the info needed. Including the number off the red crt. Or should I just scrap it.
When a red crt goes out and wont light its usually another reason such as a transistor or even faulty CRT pc board that causes it since the set powers up the other two tubes. Go to this link and leave them an email and list the model number and tell them the symptoms they will help you out with it, they are real good with the RCa sets. If the red tube was shot it would cause the set to go into shutdown or throw red retrace lines across the screen. Heres the link,
