Cannot find instructions to name a telephone

Some phones in our office display the name of the person who the phone extension relates to but some are wrong. The person who knew how to fix this problem has since left the organisation and I can't find any instructions to do this myself...please help!?!?

Thanks for your reply, unfortunately this didn't work.

However, we have now gained access to the BT server and can administer our phone system by using the Business Communications Manager via its IP address.

How do I change the display names on the various extensions in my office as employees change? Assistance would be greatly appreciated. thank you!

When your phone system was installed, someone either did his job and gave you instructions for making simple changes or he didin't. Names are programmed under system command 004 from the master phone. IIRC it's covered in the OM under System Administator or something similar.
You'll also find programming for your extension in the same book.

When someone calls my phone from another extension in the office how can I get the time stamp to show on my voice mail instead of the persons name?

The date and the callers name should display on the telephone. You cannot display the time stanp, however you can press 7 to listen to the message envelope, which includes the time stamp.

Assign a new person to an extension

Changing the programming2.gif on a Partner system is done on either ext 10 or 11. At one of those ext's press the feature key and "00"
next press the left hand intercom twice
the display should say system programming
press the left hand intercom button
the display should say central telephone prog extension:
enter in the extension number of the persons phone you wish to rename
the display should say program extension xx
press the left hand intercom button
the display should say the extension number followed by the existing programmed name
enter in name of new person by pressing the number where the letter is then its order on the button so under the 2 button 1 would be A, 2 would be B, and 3 would be C ex. BILL = 22 - 43 - 53 - 53 use the mic/hfai button to erase entry.

either press the right hand intercom to go to the next extension or press feature 00 to exit

Change my display name

This is how I did it:
1. Press the 'Program' button 2. Then dial ** (star, star) 3. Enter the password (usually 1234) 4. Press 'Next' until you get to 'Ext Name' 5. Press 'Enter' 6. You will need to know the Extension Number of you phone, when you find out enter it (eg: 104 or whatever yours is) 7. Press 'Clear' to get rid of the old name then start entering the new name via the number keys. Note: If you keep cycling through the letter on each number you can get to lowercase or uppercase letters. 8. Press 'Enter' then you are all done... pick and hang up the handset.
