Question about Philips GoGear HDD6330 MP3 Player

Device manager wont detect my gogear HDD1630/17 even though i recently updated the software and driver, also my device is frozen on "Please connect player to pc". I can't even get it back to the menu screen after a soft reset.

    .. PLAYER FREEZES when plugged into USB. Windows XP SP2 wont recognize.

I was experiencing this similar problem, and from my research so were alot of other people, what finally worked for me was this:

  • Update all the software on your computer via Phillips site
  • Open the Philips Device Manager
  • With the device connected and the 'connected to pc' screen showing on the GoGear, do a 'soft reset' by holding the Power Off + Volume Up buttons for a few seconds
  • As soon as the device restarts itself, hold the Volume Down button, the computer should now recognize the GoGear
  • Follow the onscreen directions to Repair the device
  • Thank the intarwebs.

Even after all thet MY COMPUTER RECOGNIZES IT i can even copy music to it through the media player but the device manager DOESNT RECOGNIZE IT....wut do i do??

Mine will only charge if i plug it in halfway..and if i plug it all the way in phillips device manager wont recognize it..

My model is Philip SA1MXX02W/97 GoGear Mix 2 GBMP3 Player.When I on it, it shows updating 20 percent, then updating 40 percent ; hang there for few seconds and suddenly off by itself. Pls help.


It shows there is some problem with the inbuilt device firmware.The only solution is to do a reset on your device.Please follow the instructions below to reset your Philips SA1MXX02W/97.

1.Insert a pen tip or other object into the reset hole located at the bottom of the GoGear Mix. Hold until the player shuts down.

If the reset option is unsuccessful, follow the steps below to recover the GoGear Mix with the Philips Device Manager:

1.On your computer, select Start >Programs > Philips Digital Audio Player > GoGear Mix Device Manager > Philips Device Manager to launch the Philips Device Manager.
2.Turn off the GoGear Mix before you continue.
3.Press and hold the volume button + while you connect the GoGear Mix to your computer.
4.Keep holding the key until the Philips Device Manager acknowledges the GoGear Mix and enters the recovery mode.
5.On the computer, click the Repair button and follow the instructions of the Philips Device Manager to complete the recovery process.
6.When the recovery is completed, disconnect the GoGear Mix from your computer.
7.Restart the GoGear Mix.

My GO gear Mp3 player wont be detected on any computer. even if you install the hardware, it wont still detect.


if your player don't detect . also don't detect with Philips Device Manager

try to download this driver for it usb 2.0 ADFU Driver .
i worked with 7 and in system device manager show "uknown usb device" but in XP show this "usb 2.0 ADFU Drive" and also the Xp itself install it . if your windows dosent have this so go on to download it manualy . then use philips device manager to repair it . i do it myself and it worked

Get the firmware update from the philips website

Philips GoGear Firmware Upgrade
You need to get the latest firmware upgrade from the Philips website:
1. Go to www.philips.com/support
2. Enter your country/language
3. Enter your model # SA6045 or whatever
4. Click on the link for your exact model # (the one w/o the "B" in it)
5. Click on "Software & Drivers"
6. Download the updated "Device/Firmware Manager"
7. Once installed, open the Philips Device Manager
8. Click on the "Update" tab, then the "Update" button (with your mp3 player connected to the computer, of course)
9. Your Mp3 players firmware will update automatically
If you do not have the latest version of the Philips Device Manager installed (the latest is the version from the Philips website), then clicking the "Update" button will give you a false positive saying "The firmware on your device is already up to date."

My player isn't recognized by the Device Manager or Windows Media Player

My Phillps mp3 wont turn on or let meh download more songs. Wuts wrong with it? Plz help.

Open the Philips Device Manager (Start à All Programs à Philips Digital Audio Player à SAXXX à Philips Device Manager) and click on the “Repair” tab.  Then click on the “Repair” button to start the repair process.  Most of the time, when your player is in that state, the Device Manager will not recognize that your GoGear is plugged in.  If this is the case: Disconnect the player from the PC, and make sure the mp3 player is turned off. Hold in the volume + button on the mp3 player, and reconnect the player to your pc while holding in the volume + button. Continue holding the volume + for 10-15 seconds until a "Found New Hardware Wizard" pops up. It should recover your device if there isn't anything internally wrong with the player. Warning: this procedure will result in your songs being erased off the player, so they will have to be reloaded.

Code 10 errors can be resolved by completely uninstalling the Philips Device Manager and other software that came with the GoGear installation CD, and then reinstalling the clean version of the software from the Philips website.  Then running a Repair. The version of the Device Manager that is on the installation CD is not the same version as the one from the website.

Iniatializing keeps flashing on and off


Uninstall the existing Device Manager.
Download the latest Device Manager software for this device from www.p4c.philips.com and install this.

Repair the player using the updated software.

If the problem still persists, try the update once more.

If this still doesn't work, then the main PCB is faulty and will have to be replaced.

If the repair does work, the player briefly shows a message on screen when restarted, then shuts down again.

You then need to restart the player again and it shows Updating, and then goes to the main menu.

Device driver problem


Grab the software directly from the Philips website at www.usasupport.philips.com - enter in your model #, click on software and drivers, then click on Device/Frimware Manager - this is a more recent version than that found on the installation CD.

Also, you can follow the FAQ process on the website which says "Player not recongized by PC"

If that fails, do a repair and a firmware upgrade:
1) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips) - if you don't see it, then re-run the installation CD or grab the "Device/Firmware Manager" from the Philips website
2) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
3) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off (if you haven't done so already) - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new

You will now be able to load the firmware upgrade by clicking on the update tab in Philips Device Manager. The firmware upgrade should resolve the issue permanently.

Philips GoGear Mp3 player problem


Make sure you back up all songs on the GoGear before attempting this solution.

1) Back up all files on the GoGear
2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips)
3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new

Now you can do the firmware upgrade that will prevent this problem from occuring in the future. Open up Philips Device Manager and click the Update tab. This problem was caused because most GoGear's were designed for Windows XP with Media Player 10 (which is no longer the latest standard).
