No DVI video output from dell xps 210

It sounds like your video card has gone out. Is the VGA and DVI ports on the same video card? If so the card is probably bad.

Playing a downloaded film with HDMI cable to my TV set Sony Bravia, after 10 minutes the colour on tv set disappear or change. Do I need a certain drive on my computer for HDMI

If it was playing the video fine initially, there should be no reason for that to change. Most likely the video card on the laptop is overheating or dying, which results in the change in colors. I fix laptops at my computer repair shop, and most are HP Pavilion DV6000 and DV9000, and they are notorious for having bad video chips on the motherboards. If it is still under warranty I would back up your data from the hard drive then send it in to HP to have fixed or replaced. If it isn't under warranty I would try to connect your tv using just a VGA cable, and see if the same thing happens. If it does, you have a bad video card. If it doesn't happen then you may still have a bad video card, it's just that the VGA signal isn't as high powered/high resolution so your card doesn't get pushed hard enough to malfunction. Try the VGA cable and let me know how it works.

My problem is my computer cannot open the display in the screen is "check the video cable"

Good Day Efren!

When you turn on your PC and your monitor displays "Check the Video Cable", it means that there is no signal coming out from the video card going to the monitor.

It just gives you the direction to check if the VGA cable is properly connected to the video card and to the monitor. There are two screws that need to be fixed to both ends of the cable to ensure its connection. You can also try other VGA cable to make sure that the one you are using is not faulty.

After you have made sure VGA connection is secured and restarting the PC did not fix it, the next suggestion might fix it.

Turn off your PC and unplug it. Disconnect VGA cable from the video card and open the casing cover. Disconnect the video card from the motherboard. Using a clean clothe moistened with alcohol, gently wipe the contact surface of the video card. Reseat the video card properly to the motherboard. Return the casing cover and connect the VGA cable.

Restart the PC and see if that fix the problem.

Good Luck Efren!

A compaq sr1000 need to know what no VGA input means. Will no allow my computer to come on

Welcome to FixYa

No VGA input means that the computer is not detecting video input from the video card. Usually you get this message if the video card of your system is not functional, the VGA cable is unplugged or the VGA cable is defective. To try and remedy this problem try these.

Check if you can hear sound coming from the system. If the video card is functioning then you should here the startup audio from windows.

Check the VGA connection on the back of the system. The VGA cable looks like thismalups_6.jpg

Please note that the VGA cable has two screws, make sure that both are fastened correctly

If the VGA cable is plugged in and you cant hear audio coming from the system. Then this would likely be caused by a defective video card on your computer

Hope this helps

I connected my computer to my TV via a VGA to RCA component cable and no image is showing up on the television.

I have two suggestions. First, make sure your TV is set up to receive inputs from the RCA jacks you're plugging the cable into. Second, you may have to change the screen resolution on the computer to something the TV can handle. To do this plug the VGA cable back into your normal monitor. Right click in the field. Left click on properties or personalize, depending on your operating system. Then left click on setting or display settings. There should be a slider bar where you can change the screen resolution. I'm guessing it's probably set too high for your TV. Try reducing it and then plug the VGA cable back into the RCA jack converter. I hope this helps you out.

Monitor says No signal digital

Is ether the monitor or video card uses both DVI or VGA port. There may be a switch on the graphic card that changes it from DVI to VGA, often outside the card.

Also is the computer monitor set to the right setting if it can use both VGA and DVI, if using DVI (of any type) it need to switch to digital, and if using VGA it need to be set to analog. This may be a physical switch or using the settings button. (see manual how to change them)

PS: VGA port is a blue D shaped port with 15 pin holes, and DVI is a white rectangle port with one port being a line.
