You should first try cleaning the lens within the tv as they are probably a little dusty and may be causing this problem. Please let me know if this makes it better and if not we can try a few other things. You will need to take off the outer covering to get to them and if you have any questions about doing this, I would be glad to answer them

good luck

You have a failure with the convergence circuitry if the magic focus does not work.
The cost of this repair might be $350.00 to $400.00 if you have a TV tech to repair it.
Please provide the model and chassis number of your TV to provide you with more info.

Lines on the screen

Are they thin, white lines running east to west? If so, they are called retrace lines and indicate that the screen settings for the picture tubes is set too high or there may be a mal-function of the CRT driver circuitry. Try adjusting the screen controls which are located behind the front grill of the TV behind an access panel. Once you remove the grill and access panel, you'll see a small control assembly the has two sets of controls. Three for adjusting the red, green, and blue focus, the other, the red, blue, and green screen controls. To adjust correctly, put the TV on an unused input(dark, blank picture) and adjust until there are no visable retrace lines or color in the image.

Set needs convergence ic's changed and possibly a few small 1/4 watt resistors. Parts have to be desoldered/soldered into circuit board and test equip.(ohm/ volt meter) is required. Most repair shops do this repair for 175.00-375.00 Hope this was helpful. Russmann

Thin red horizontal lines across screen

replace the focus block or try to adjust the screen control on the focus block for red only. this will affect the white balance of the set so adjust it carefully. the focus block is located on the front inside the set. remove the speaker cover then the 4 screws on the front plate. the focus block is 3" x 2" black box with 6 adjustment posts three for focus and three for screen. adjust only the affected screen (R).

Hitachi 57SWX20B 3D Effect due to green light convergence problem

I'm trying to fix the issue on my 43FDX20B. So far, I'm able to move the lines up and down, but can't get the left/right motion to fix it. The attached link has the dynamic mode instructions, so you can correct this issue yourself.

The only thing I didn't have was the screen overlay jig the manual talks about. I decided to create one myself and use the screen as a beginning template. I went to our local hardware store and picked up some home window weather covering. The roll cost about $15, is a clear strong plastic and the template was very easy to create. I used a straight edge after I put dots on the plastic and measured the lines for being square and equal after I took it off my tv. Good thing is that if you don't like what you make the first time, you have a 25' roll to use to try again (ha).

Blue out of focus; casting blue "glow"

Try changing the coolant in the blue tube. Contaminated coolant will give a halo look to the affected tube and you will experience difficulty focusing that color.Phillips/magnavox's blue is the tube most often affected with the contaminated coolant issues.

Convergence Problem

sounds like 1 of the convergence chips are gone theres 2 of them and better off replacing both as the other would just go a month down the line there might also be a resister or 2 gone, the price for that kind of job is around 150 +vat.

hope this helps

Convergence not lining up

Sounds like the green is out of focus. If the focus control for the green does not control it enough to make the width the same as the red, then, the lens on top of the green can be adjusted to focus that tube. On the lens, there is a wing nut on a screw to loosen it and move the lens left or right a bit to help with the focus. Hope this helps.
