This fix/solution really worked great! No more freezing problem of USB mouse when I switch users.

Thanks to you (esmekate). Keep up the good work!!

I had consulted HP for the same problem for almost two weeks of emailing back and forth and they did not fix it. Worst thing was they ask me to reformat and reinstall everything again and still didnot fix the problem. Not to mention the time it took me to download updates and reinstall application software. And at the end, HP support team said that it was normal for this USB freezing to happen. I feel bad for them!

I have solved this problem.
Disable the HPQWMIEX.EXE service (either from msconfig or from services tab).
I had exactly the same problem - HP support didn't have a clue!!!!!

Forgotten administrator password windows vista home premium

You can try to reset the password in Vista with command prompt.
1. Press F8 to enter Advanced Boot Options just before the Windows loading screen appears.
2. Choose Safe Mode with Command Prompt.
3. Log in with an administrator account when you can see the log on screen.
4. Type net user in the command prompt and then hit Enter. All the Windows account user names will be listed for you.
5. Type net user Helen 123 and hit Enter.
'Helen' is your locked Windows account user name. And '123' is the new password you want to reset for the account.

If you cannot enter the safe mode, I'm afraid you have to create a password reset disk with a CD or USB drive as follows. Otherwise, reinstallation will be your only choice.
Step 1: Download and install Windows Password Reset Deluxe from http://www.windowspasswordreset.net in any computer from its official site
Step 2: Use CD/DVD/USB drive to create a password disk via the program.
Step 3: Boot your locked computer from CD/DVD or USB
Step 4: Reset Windows password with the burned CD/DVD or USB flash drive.

Dell xps m1530 with intel core duo keeps freezing

To further investigate the issue you may do the following.

1.go to control panel --> administrative tools then select event viewer. check on system logs. you might be able to find a clue on why the notebook keeps on freezing after 15 to 20 minutes.

2.please check your virus definitions if its fully updated. If not please update it then do a full scan afterwards.

3. do a windows update on your system if it's not fully updated yet.

4. You may also check or try to remember what has been installed lately. It might be that the application installed have caused vista to freeze.

Or you may also check this link for another user who has the same issue.

Mouse cursor malfunction.(random movements)

This can only be 1 of two solutions. First your Vista is infected. Even though you have two operating systems, the system still boots with the primary. If a driver here is infected then that infection will carry through out the machine. The only other solution is the electronics. This particular model of HP has an extended warranty. The warranty was related to the wireless dropping in and out as I recall but maybe for other reasons. I would call HP about this specifying the model and that you know about their extended warranty.

Installing a new hard drive in an HP Pavilion dv2000.

On Seagate's website, they should have a drive transfer software to transfer everything over to a new drive. There are commercial drive clone applications too, like Paragon Drive Copy which you can find with Google.
