Bought a brand new dryer last night. It is hooked up and seems fine except when I push the start button, it does nothing but a beep. All the lights work and I set all the different configurations, but it still does not start. The door switch seems to be working. If I open the door, the panel lights indicated standby.
We had to push the door very hard (like with our knee) to get the door to latch so the dryer would work. I'm sure its a mfg defect and they should be recalled.

Did you figure out a solution to this problem? I just bought a brand new Frigidaire and it is doing the exact same thing, except it never worked properly. I thought it was the unit and had HH Greg bring another out but the 2nd one did the same as the first.
Did you take the shipping blocks out? They are inside the machine. You will need to remove the access cover on the back and look in, you cant miss them. Good luck
If power is getting to the tumble dryer and the socket is definitely OK, then the most common problem with tumble dryers not working is when the door micro switch fails, or the catch on the door that operates the switch either breaks or no longer activates the door switch. Check for broken door catches. There is usually a plastic peg on the door that pushes through a hole in the tumble dryer's casing where the door catch is. Closing the door should operate a simple micro switch. If the plastic peg is broken or bent it might not operate the switch properly.

The start capacitor may have failed and i would not suggest you deal with that as they give out a nasty electrical charge, also check and clean all filters and check your user manual for further advice as your machine should still be under warranty, call the numbers listed in your manual. good luck
Hi-- none of the solutions I've read here are working. Same problem, dryer not starting, it says "Sensing..." and then "Wet" and does nothing. It worked fine on the last load, except I noticed it read 11 minutes for a very, very long time (I think it got stuck). New load? "Sensing..." etc.
my kenmore dryer 80 series wont start the start switch just buzzes and the drum does not turn i put a new switch today vacuum it and check all belts they seem fine dont know what else to do
