Question about Harman Kardon GPS510 GPS

3 Answers

Frozen ?? I have just bought a GPS 500 and when I switch it on I get an options display offering 'Navigation' 'Music' 'Video' and 'Settings' Pressing 'Navigation' turns it blue but it just stays like that and is inactive. There is a small icon on the lower left and to the left of the time display. The icon is superimposed with a red cross. What do I do to get the thing working. Cheers. Robert.

I have a hk gps 300 but this also happened to me. There is a little reset button on the bottom of the device. You need a toothpick to push it. After you push it it should reset and start working.

the crossed out symbol at the bottom left of the screen means that there is no signal. i think it freezes when it first finds a signal

hope this helps

It just means that you are in the wrong menu just press the back button. If you look at the top of the display it shows what menu you're in, dimmed out

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Can't get past the charging screen

Have you tried to "restart" the GPS by pressing the reset key at the back of the GPS ?
Usually, the media files (pictures, videos, music, text) are loaded (copied from your source/PC) to the T-Flash (SDHC) card ... and inserted into the GPS. The GPS device will recognize these files (in their appropriate formats, e.g. music WAV or WMA9 files, movie AVI, WMV, ASF files, eBook TXT files, pictures JPG, GIF, BMP, PNG files) and display the selections in their (respective) interface screens.

Hard reset

Hi Friend,

You can't hard-reset it on your own, that can only be done by a Nokia Care Center by flashing the firmware again on the phone.

The phone itself only offers a "soft" reset which only resets the settings.

if you mean a master reset (back to factory settings)

From the stand by screen, select Menu by pressing directly in on the navigation pad.
Scroll to Settings, and select by pressing directly in on the navigation pad.
Scroll to Restore Factory Settings, and select by pressing directly in on the navigation pad.
Enter current Security code and select OK by pressing directly in on the navigation pad.
NOTE: Default Security Code is 12345.

Regards,
Ayyasam

How to restore HK GPS 500 to factory settings

There is a pin hole on the bottom right hand side that resets all settings to factory defaults. My HK GPS 500 did the same thing and I reset it and now it's working fine. This usually happens when the battery gets low. A paper clip will work good. Just don't push too hard. You can feel the switch click with a lite push.
