Mother Board upgrades

Hello, My current computer is a HP Pavilion a1720n. I purchased it stock with a E6300 core 2 duo processor. My biggest concerns now are the upgradability, and it has come to my attention upgrading my current ASUS P5LP-LE motherboard. This MB isnt able to keep up with the processor and video card needs of today. I would like to know if its possible to purchase a new motherboard/processor bundle and connect all the current cd drivers, video cards and hardware devices necessary. I have taken into consideration the devices that are compliant with the possible mother boards and plan to purchase a motherboard that works best. Is it worth the time or effort? Yes, i have the knowledge and capability of reconnecting the appropriate cables, RAM and video cards. -It is even possible? I would like to know what motherboards to look into and were to start. The link provided are possible ideas i had and price ranges. (200-330$). its not the problem of updating drivers, its the choice of getting a new motherboard and how If i should replace my current one. If anyone can point me in the right direction of getting a motherboard and installing it that'd be great.

    Thank you

Well hello there i have read your problem and i really think you shouldn't have to waste time and money all you have to do is enter your motherboards model into a search engine on the net and to that add drivers update. e.g. "HP Pavilion a1720n driver update" and the search engine will bring up a list of links that will help you download the latest drivers without any problems if that does not work then try going to the shop you bought it and ask them to upgrade what ever driver that is giving you problems.

Hi, I hope you can help me out. I am in a dilemma. I have LGA 775 motherboard and would like to upgrade my pentium D 805 2.66 Ghz processor. Is it worth buying a new motherboard with Core i5 or just buy a...

1. 1st you have to know if the current mother board will accept the Duo core processor.
2. the i5 processor is newer technology and may have advantages over the Duo core processor such as speed and computational integrity i.e. being able to do more calculations per second also bandwidth . not be able to crash as much due to the amount of programs running.

hello velayojoel

my name is ausi.

if the asrock web site says 2gig is the max then that is it. the only other thing to check on their web site is the bios version. see what version is your bios and if a bios upgrade can help. otherwise the only thing to do is to replace the board if you want higher processor speed.

hope this has helped somehow.
good luck

this are the CPU -s that you're mb can support (core 2 duo)the numbers after "All" are the bios version's you need for the cpu: Core 2 Duo E4300 (1.8GHz,800FSB,L2:2MB,65W,rev.L2) ALL 1201 Core 2 Duo E4400 (2.0GHz,800FSB,L2:2MB,65W,rev.L2) ALL 1202 Core 2 Duo E4500 (2.2GHz,800FSB,L2:2MB,65W,rev.M0) ALL 1406 Core 2 Duo E4600 (2.4GHz,800FSB,L2:2MB,65W,rev.M0) ALL 1406 Core 2 Duo E4700 (2.6GHz,800FSB,L2:2MB,revG0) ALL 1501 Core 2 Duo E6300 (1.86GHz,1066FSB,L2:2MB,rev.B2) ALL 0604 Core 2 Duo E6300 (1.86GHz,1066FSB,L2:2MB,rev.L2) ALL 1201 Core 2 Duo E6320 (1.86GHz,1066FSB,B2:4MB,rev.B2) ALL 1402 Core 2 Duo E6400 (2.13GHz,1066FSB,L2:2MB,rev.B2) ALL 0604 Core 2 Duo E6400 (2.13GHz,1066FSB,L2:2MB,rev.L2) ALL 1201 Core 2 Duo E6420 (2.13GHz,1066FSB,L2:4MB,rev.B2) ALL 1402 Core 2 Duo E6600 (2.40GHz,1066FSB,L2:4MB,rev.B2) ALL 0604 Core 2 Duo E6700 (2.66GHz,1066FSB,L2:4MB,rev.B2) ALL 0604 Core 2 Extreme X6800(2.93GHz,1066FSB,L2:4MB,revB2) ALL 0604 and for the graphic card ...no because you motherboard has the "AGP" interface and the nvidia 8600 has "PCI - express" interface as is described here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_8600_8500_tech_specs.html
