Power cable problem for SHARP AQUOS TV 42 inch

Jerry,
I think my problem is not well defined. I will try again.
1. My TV works with 110v and 220v. This is indicated on the back of the TV and in the booklet of the TV. The booklet says that I need to contact an address to get a 220V power cable if I intend to use it in a 220v country. I did not write to this address yet. I believe they are selling a power cable which has european style plug. I already purchased a plug converter (USA style to European style) to attach to the 110v cable plug, so that I can insert it to the European power outlets. My concern is if the 110 v cable I have can carry 220v.
2. I know that my TV's tuner can accept only NTSC TV broadcasts. But there is a solution for this. I will buy an external PAL TV tuner from Turkey and will connect it to this NTSC TV by using the VGA output of the external TV tuner. My TV has a VGA input. As you know, if you give a video input to a monitor/TV, through a VGA cable, it doesn't matter if it is NTSC or PAL. I made experiments to see this result and it works.
3. Can you answer my power cable question? Does my cable can carry 220 v? I am asking this question with a hope that it works, because I am using 110v cables of my laptops in Europe with 220v (by attaching a plug converter (not a power converter) and it works.
Thank you for your help.

The voltage rating of the cable is not a problem. For all home appliances, including TV sets, the voltage rating of the power cable is supposed to be up in the 600 Volt to 1000 Volt range depending on the particular manufacture of the cable. This is not an issue. I have never seen a home appliance that could handle more than 240 VAC.

As for the Amperage rating of cable, it is more than adequate for the appliance that the cable is sold for. The 220 Volt appliances use about 1/2 the amperage that their equivelent 120 Volt appliances use. This is because the wattage for the power consumption is normaly constant.

The power cable is not a factor here. If the power supply in the TV can take the 220 VAC, and the 50 Hz power line frequency then there are no problems from that point.

No power to tv after unplugging and replugging

either the fuse is burnt out inside or the the problem is the power supply board. You can remove the back cover to see if the fuse is good or not.

Programming the Acquos Remote

There is a code out there to try.  The code would be 47.  Just follow the steps in your manual on how to program this box and you should be able to go from there. Can't garantee that it will work as that code came out with the newer tv but it should work.

Need power cable for SHARP LCD TV to use in Turkey

It is not the power cord that makes the rating of the power supply. You can use a transformer, and not a solid state converter to lower the 220 V to 120 V.

What you will find if this is a North American TV set, it may not work in other countries due to the standards for TV broadcast.

If the set is rated for PAL, this will only work with the video inputs, and not the tuner. The tuner frequency allocation and the video and audio carriers are also different between the some of the different countries.

Sharp aquos 42"

Check the settings in the TV set for HDMI sound on the input of the TV that you are using. Try another HDMI cable. It may be defective.

It is also possible that there is a compatiblity problem for the HDMI sound between the TV and the computer's sound protocol.

Turn off closed caption on input(component) on Sharp Aquos 42"

I have a Sharp Aquos 46" and go a Comcast HD receiver as well, and had the same problem turning off the Closed Captioning. I order to turn it off you need to go into the box user setting by (starting w/ the cable box and tv on) pressing the power button for the cable box then the menu button for the cable box. This will open up the user settings menu. Just toggle CLOSED CAPTION to DISABLED.
