Toshiba MW24FP1 TV/VCR/DVD combo... plays some DVD's but not all... after putting in the DVD, it shows 'Reading disc', then get an error message..'incorrect disc'..... it is 2 years old and hasn't been used very much.... called the DVD movie company, they said some of these combo's have the same problem.... Is there any recalls, anything we can do to solve the problem, or as a last resort, can another DVD player be hooked up to this combo....is that possible... HELP... Thanks,

Dan...thanks, I kinda figured it was possibly dust....no I don't feel comfortable since the DVD player is at the bottom of the TV... so what cover are you referring to ??? Does the front of the DVD player come off ??? Could you explain in detail....
Would appreciate any help since we don't know where to take it to get it checked out and what it would cost....
Thanks again.... Sandi
This is a common problem for all combo units. The high voltage of the TV section attracts large amounts of particulate dust from the air and often it collects inside the DVD unit. The best way to deal with this is to clean the lens of the DVD unit u sing a cotton swab and alcohol. The store bought "cleaners" MAY work, but that is rare. These cleaners are nothing but small brushes embedded into a disc. They attempt to brush off hte dust. This rarely works. Open up the unit (if you feel comfortabel in doing so) to access the DVD section. Remove the top cover and carefully clean the lens. That should resolve the problem.
