You're in a trouble.
If you can get to the motherboard, you could try removing the CMOS battery. This probably won't help, because most laptop CMOS is backed-up.

So you should contact Toshiba with the problem. The chip, which contains the BIOS, on the motherboad needs to be replaced with one, containing a working BIOS for your motherboard. Or your motherboard is to be replaced.

Trying to reboot toshiba satellite a105 s1014 but it is asking for a password

Hello there...

I've been experiencing this similar problem once and toshiba replace my motherboard because they cannot solve the problem.

And I really hope that I am wrong. But, this problem is actually a known BIOS problem in some version of BIOS which is fixed in the latest BIOS update release Version 2.30.

See this quoted from toshiba tech support website:
Change History
Version 2.30 - 2008-10-10
  • Corrected: A BIOS password may be set automatically (spontaneously) by the computer.
  • Corrected: The internal keyboard repeat speed can not be changed.

See if you can claim this to toshiba, because it is actually BIOS bug.

Hope this helps... :D

Screen goes black

There have been numerous issues with Toshiba Power saving settings on laptops that can cause the same problem. Sometimes a simple BIOS update will fix it. BEWARE: Updating the BIOS can kill the motherboard because your overwriting the core logic function of it.

Before you update make sure you have a fully charged battery to prevent a power outage from interrupting the process (usually the only thing you need to worry about). Go to and search for your model of laptop. Look for a BIOS update. Read their instructions thoroughly, then carefully follow them.

If you purchased it from Best Buy and are under a Performance Service Plan or even Manufacturers warranty (1 yr) then take it to Geek Squad, and let them get this shipped off and done for you.
