When you get cable internet, the cable company provides you with a modem (usually). From the cable modem you can hook up the Linksys router with an ethernet cable and it will work just fine. Hook the router up to the desktop or laptop with another ethernet cable if you need to make changes to the router security or whatever. The router address is generally 192.168.1.1. YOu can type that address right into the internet address and you router page shoud show up. If you have been using the Linksys router with the phone line all you need is to connect it to the cable modem to work. An ethernet cable is like a telephone line with a fatter connecter.
Since it says network cable unplugged on the computer when wired to the router, you need to check these first: âMake sure that the Ethernet cable is connected from the modem to the router’s Internet (WAN) port and the computer to the numbered port of the router. The computer should used to be connecting to the Ethernet port of the modem, if not; you should contact your ISP first. âMake sure that the Ethernet adapter/LAN card on your computer is working properly. You can check that on the device manager of your computer. âIf those are all working fine that would mean the router is not yet configured for Internet access or we can say that the settings for the provider are not synchronized with the router. To configure the router, you can do these general steps: 1.Connect the computer to the numbered port of the router and the modem to the router’s Internet (WAN) port. 2.Turn off the computer, router and modem. 3.Turn on the modem first, wait for the lights to stabilize then turn on the router. As soon as the lights are stabilized, you can turn on the computer and check for internet connection. However, if the Internet connection still does not work. That means there are additional settings needed to be done. You can message me about the name of your ISP and I will provide you the specific steps you need.
I think the problem is not your laptop configuration. Can you check the setup configuration of the router it's maybe the wireless function is disable. Or try to reset the router to his default configuration. Press the reset bottom of the router for 15 second then try to connect your wireless connection if still not working setup again the router configuration.
I think you have lost your PPPOE internet connection. Reestablish the connection. If this is not the problem, click your wireless connection on the taskbar and search for your wireless device and reconnect. BPCS
