The problem is that the router has already the newest firmware, I checked that before.. and the second problem is, now its worse then before.. i cant connect to the router at all, not even with a cable... It connects to the network as a unidentifyed network and i cant connect to my router via 192.168.2.1 like i used to, and your http://my.router didnt help. tried pushing the resetbutton on the back but nothing happens... the lights still blink as it should... can it break like this one small step at the time? is it time to buy a new? is it possible to make a full reset of the router so all settings (lika username and password and all other stuff)?

the channel i used before this all happend (and have used for over a year) is channel 7, does that matter?

  • one2be May 23, 2008

I read something about problems with using torrents that could make the router mad, but if this is so, shouldnt it work after a reset? but how do I reset this router? because when i reset i with the reset on the back nothing changes? shouldnt the user and pass change back to standard?

  • one2be May 23, 2008

hm.. what setup wizard? im not sure I follow...

Im going to test if I can connect to the router again tomorrow, but if I can connect to the web based utility, is there a option to reset the router from that and if so, do you know where it is / under what menu?

    thanks for the help!

Hi again! I tried to have the router out of power for a few days and then reseted the router with the switch on the back, now its back to login/pass admin. so it worked, and it works with the cabel, but still when i use the wireless connection it say unidentifyed connection and gets no connection to the internet... does this help anyway in the problemsolving? :)

damn routers, cant they just work :P

You can check for wireless interference in the area. Move the wireless devices away from Microwave ovens, cordless phones that run 2.4 GHZ and other wireless devices that may intervene with the connection. To further isolate the concern, may I know the following information:

    1. brand and model of the router

    2. is the computer a desktop or a laptop? Does it have an internal or external wireless adapter?

    3. Does the wireless adapter connect fine to other wireless networks?

I see. You can try changing the wireless settings of the router. You can do that by accessing the web based utility of the router. Here are the instructions:

1. Click the Start button, and then click Run.
2. Type the following text in the Open box: http://my.router
3. If this is the first time configuring your Dell Wireless 2350 Broadband Router, or if the user name and password have not been changed from the default settings, type admin in the User Name field and admin in the Password field.
4. Click the OK button. The Configuration screen appears.
5. Under the Basic settings, under Wireless Settings change the channel from Auto to 1, 6, or 11.

If that does not work, you can try updating the firmware of the router. You can download the firmware from this site:
http://www.dell-drivers.com/dell-drivers-downloads/Dell-Wireless-2350-Broadband-Router_8689.shtml

Here are the instructions on how to upgrade:

1. Reaccess the configuration page of the router using a wired computer.
2. Click on System Tools, find Firmware Upgrade.
3. Click Browse and search for the firmware you downloaded from the site I gave you earlier. Select it and then start the upgrade. Let the firmware finish its upgrade.

Yes it should. If the reset at the back does not change, there is a possibility that the router is already defective. If the web based utility does not work, have you tried using the setup wizard instead?

you can try to change the wireless settings of the router. Make sure that the network name is unique and that the channel is either 1, 6 or 11 for better coverage

I have problems WLAN on my DIR-855

You might have a lot of neighbours using wifi, you get interference. Download "Inssider" and scan your area, usually this type of problem means several people on the same channel of wifi. to change your channel, log into your router (type 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1 into internet explorer. then change the channel settings.

My WNDR3300 creates problems when connection my notebook, it connects but very soon disconnects. I have windows Vista on my notebook

Hi,
First of all make sure your computer will connect with any other network without any problem or if possible for you to use any other wireless computer at your home with this router so that you can make sure you dont have any issue with your computer. Once you are sure about your computer please tried to change channel on the router and tried to change the security on the router. I believe that will resolve your issue. Waiting for your reply if you required any other clarification.

Getting wireless computor and router back on line with desk top computor

1. Disconnect power from your modem and router
2. Connect an ethernet cord from your modem's ethernet port to your router's Internet or WAN port.
3. Connect another ethernet cord from a port on your router (labeled with a "1" above it).
4. Connect power to your modem and router.
5. I'm a little unsure about how you plan to connect your wireless computer to the router. The router you selected when you created this question is not wireless-capable.

If your router is wireless-capable, go to the wireless computer. Follow the instructions for your operating system below.

Windows XP

1. Right-click on the My Network Places icon on your desktop, and select Properties.
2. Right-click on Wireless Network Connection.
3. Right-click on View Available Wireless Networks.
4. Double-click on your network from the list that appears (it should be called "linksys" if you didn't change the name).

Windows Vista

1. Click on the network icon on the lower-right of your screen (it should look like two computers with one behind another. It might have a red "X" over it.)
2. Click "Connect to a network" (it also might be labeled "Connect or disconnect")
3. Double-click on your network from the list (it should be called "linksys" if you didn't change the name.

Mac OS X

1. Click on the AirPort menu in the upper right of your screen (it looks like "("s turned on their side).
2. Click on your network in the list that appears (it should be called "linksys" if you didn't change the name).

Wireless connection of netgear wireless router for compaq laptop

When you look on the box that the router came in, you have to look to see what Operating Systems it is compatible with. In many cases, routers will not be compatible with vista. I have a Linksys WRT300N, and it works great with Vista.Hope this helps.

Frequent disconnects

If the Xbox is connected wirelessly through a computer

ie. Bridge?

Then the problem would be with Windows XP, the Operating system scans every 2min's or so for new networks and at this point you will notice a "lag" or disconnect if it is bad enough.

XP: your going to have to turn off the Wireless service via msconfig.

Vista: Download WLAN Optimizer, easy fix there...
