Question about Canon PowerShot SD1000 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Zoom changes when camera turns on and camera is blocked

My Powershot sd1000 was bought 9 months ago. When I turn on the camera (in photo position or in camera position), zoom changes automatically until 5,4x or more.
I can't make a photo and I can't select other option from menu. When I turn on the camera and I choose the option of photos visualization, I can't move to previous photo or remove photos. The camera is blocked.
Any suggestions?

Thank you for your answer. I have already tried to do, but everything in the camera is blocked, also the zoom lever is blocked. So, I have send it to Canon.

The only option really for it is service. you do have a 1 year warranty so long as you have a receipt / warranty card. you could just play with the zoom lever a little to see if it frees up

When i try to veiw photos the camera turns off Canon Powershoot SD1000

Ensure that the battery is fully charged. If the battery is fully charged and the problem continues, export all the photos to a computer and format the memory card.
If there is an issue with the memory card, formatting may resolve the issue.

Canon PowerShot SD1000 - Camera turns on, shoots fixtures, flash works, screen is on, but...none of the buttons or functions on the back work, nor does the zoom. Any ideas?

This sounds like an actual internal electrical connection problem. or a problem with the board itself. If the camera is under a year old I would have it serviced under the manufacturer warranty. If its over a year you can still have it serviced through canon but the repair costs will not be covered.
Thank you,
Lee

Lens Error. Restart Camera. Camera gives this error message and then shuts off. I can't access photos or function buttons. What can I do?

Press the "MENU" button and navigate to the reset command and reset the camera. That may get the camera to function properly.

Won't Turn On

I had same problem. Took it to photo store who sent it to Canon. They returned the camera stating liquid damage, would cost more to repair than to buy new one. I figured what the heck and sprayed WD 40 in the battery compartment. It turned on but wouldn't zoom. Sprayed it again and more worked. After the 3rd spraying it works like new and has for 9 months.
