"Communication Not Available" message is displayed

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection.

If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

1. Disconnect the printer from your computer.

2. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it.

2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.

3. Delete the Lexmark print object.

4. Reboot your pc.

5. When your pc turns on, reconnect the printer.

6. Wait until your pc fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list again, then try to print again.

You may also try to update your printer driver by visiting the Lexmark website at . Select your operating system, download and execute the file.

If the problem continues, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for additional assistance.

My printer won't print. my computer is hooked up to it, and it doesn't give any error messages. it just doesn't do anything.

Go to Control Panel/Printers. Right click on your printer's name, and hit Print Test Page. If printer prints a page out, then the problem is likely with the software you're using to print - make sure you have selected the right printer in the dropdown. If the printer's name doesn't show in the Printers folder of Control Panel, the driver for it has not been installed. Do so and try again.

Message paper jam does not print

First of all what type of printer do you have? If you have unclogged the paper jam or there never was on try opening it up and checking for anything else that might be blocking it. If there is still nothing there try unplugging it from your computer shutting down the printer then plugging it back in and turning it back on. If that still doesn't work call the printers' company help support number! Hope I helped!

Got ink system failure code # 0xc18a0501 on HP Photosmart C7280 a-i-o and no amoun of shutting down and restarting will help. What can I do?

  1. Press and hold the "*" key.
  2. Press the "#" key and release both keys.
  3. Display should say "Enter Special Key Combo"
  4. Press and release in sequence the "1", "2" and "3" buttons. The screen will say "support"
  5. Press and release the right arrow button until the display says "System Configuration Menu".
  6. Press and release the "OK" button.
  7. Display should say "Hardware failure status". If not there already, Arrow Key over to "Hardware failure status",
  8. Press and release the "OK" button.
  9. Display should say "Hardware failure status: Clear. Press OK to clear".
  10. Press and release the "OK" Button. Message changes to "Hardware failure status Cleared. Press Cancel to continue".
  11. Press and release the "CANCEL" button as many times as necessary, so that, either the "Welcome to Photosmart Express" screen appears, or, the "Ink System Failure" screen appears.

PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO PRINT AT THIS STAGE.

  1. Using the Power Button, turn the unit OFF and unplug the power cable from back of the printer and wall outlet.
  2. Wait 30 seconds for the power to get discharged and then plug the power cable into the wall outlet first and then into the back of the printer
  3. Turn the unit on. The printer may display message "USE POWER BUTTON TO SHUTDOWN THE PRINTER" followed by "PRESS OK TO CONTINUE". Press OK. The Printer will start the "ONE TIME INK INITIALIZATION PROCESS". Allow this process to complete and do not interrupt. Once the initialization process is complete, the printer will print out a Diagnostic Page.
If it did not print out a diagnostic page:
  1. Is the error message still being displayed on the printer?
  2. Print a self test page to check the functionality of the printer.
  3. Press Setup menu on the All-in-One then scroll using the arrow key and select Print Report then select Self Test Report.

Error E 5

I think you may just need to live with this. That is, I don't have a solution, but printing is not affected. The guy who refills my cartridges says it is because the Pixma only recognises new Canon filled cartridges once. After that, the printer has no way of recognising them. Annoying, I know. Love the 150, but it throws up mysterios messages at times. Often, turning the printer off, waiting 60 seconds and turning it back on will do the trick. If this fails (more annoying), shutting down the computer and the priinter and starting again can get the printer working again.
Good luck
