My Toshiba NB500 wont boot and the screen wont work. I turned it on this morning and it came up with pxe media failure check cable or something along those line now i try to turn it on and nothing happens...

The Hard disk drive was not detected by the system. Turn off the laptop and try to reinsert the hard disk. Start the PC up and go to Bios/Cmos set up by hitting the F2/Del key.. check if the hard disk drive is in first boot set in boot priority device at ADVANCED settings. then exit and save settings.

Win7 os installed, turns on but wont boot, the disk drive is not working sadly

Hi,first of all looks like your laptop was getting crashed??? and i think this is not software issue, your laptop screen doesnt turn on at all even your monitor doesnt turn on too,it means your hardware just powered up but didnt check your bios and shows the information of your bios(basic input output system info) in the screen, not only you may have problem with your hard drive but also you may have hardware failure too, some experts must open and check your all hardware that working properly,
kind regards

EMachines eMD620 suddenly shutdown and not boot anymore

When this happened was the laptop overly hot? If the laptop's head got too high it could have shutdown to protect itself. It wouldn't boot until the heat had disparate. Sit you laptop aside for about 30 minutes and see if it will boot then. If it does you might want to check out a cool mat.

Hi, i have an eee laptop!! and some of the keyboards are not working!!! is there any key that can subtitute the fn key?

Hi wincel03_dar ,

I see that you are having issue booting into your Windows, I can help you with your concern. You mentioned that you get a black screen with a blinking cursor on the upper left, this means that either your Hard drive is not detected by the motherboard or Windows is not found, see steps below.
  • Turn your Laptop ON then keep on tapping F8, you should see a screen windows advance options menu, hight light and select Last Known Boot Configuration then press Enter
  • The Laptop will restart, see if it will boot into Windosws

  • From shut down turn your Laptop on again then keep on tapping F12 this will give you a Boot Menu Screen.
  • Once you have the boot menu screen Select ATA HDD it should be the first on the list if it is not located then the Hard drive isn't really detected.
  • After selecting the ATA HDD press Enter this should boot into the Hard drive, if still it does not boot and it gives you the same black screen with a blinking cursor then you can try reseating your Hard drive from the system.
  • Reseating meaning Remove it then wait a couple of seconds then put it back in properly then try turning the machine on again.
If still he issue is the same and you get a Blinking Cursor then it can be two thing either you Hard drive has gone bad or your motherboard could not detect your Hard drive.
To find out you can try and use your Hard drive on a different Laptop if the data from your Hard drive works on a different Laptop then your Hard drive is OK and that the problem is your Motherboard not be able to detect your Hard drive and need replacing.
I ope that this will be able to help you with your concern,
Thank you choosing Fixya.

Tecra M2 doesn't boot is it a processor problem?

given the symptoms, it points to motherboard.. if it was processor, video or ram. it wouldnt boot at all and you'd just get error beeps from your laptop. i'd first try resetting the bios, by removing the bios battery for 30 min, then putting it back in. if that doesnt work try changing it out, usually costs under 8 bucks. if that doesnt work then I would change out the motherboard, if its cost effective.

Try taking the battery out and use only the AC. If everything turned out fine, it could be a problem on the battery or on the port.
