Question about Whirlpool Duet GHW9150P Front Load Washer

Won't spin- won't drain- variety of errors- time to buy New Washer?

We've had this machine since it came out- what, 5 years? A couple of months ago, it started with the beeping, error flashing and the water wouldn't drain so I'd run the drain cycle after a normal wash. (Only HE detergent, etc.)

Today, it wouldn't spin and soaked. I can spin with my hand (or could...)
We unplugged the machine b/c it would not respond to ANY button. Once we plugged it back in, it remained sitting- not spinning and not responding to all buttons. (Cancel, Start)

Final time- unplugged. Plugged back in. Pressed Start (showed "16". Pressed Cancel. I go to open the door (other times it was locked and wouldn't let me) now the HANDLE breaks off!

My son is leaving on an overnight class trip TOMORROW- with many of his items in there. Then I leave out of state for vacation on Thursday- think Whirlpool will pay me a visit in under 24 hours?

Cost of parts and labor (I'm not handy- don't know of one who is)... vs. Cost of buying new... better to go new? Or no?

Intermittant 0E error

I believe the OE error is generated if it takes too long for the washing machine to drain. If the drain is blocked or the pump is is not functioning well, the error will show up intermittently. I believe we experienced a similar error a couple of years back. After verifying the drain was clear, I replaced the drain motor, I believe the washing machine was about 5 years old at that time.

My candy GOFS262 washing machine is filling the drum to the top with water on every cycle but doing nothing else after that, the clothes jst sit there in the water, I've left it to see if something...

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Motor Coupling If the washer won't spin or agitate the motor coupling might have failed. The motor coupling connects the motor to the washer transmission. It is designed to fail if the washer is overloaded in order to protect both the motor and transmission.

Drive Belt If the washer won't spin or agitate, check the drive belt. If the belt is broken or if it isn't tight on the pulleys the washer won't spin or agitate properly.

Drive Motor If the washer won't spin or agitate the drive motor might be defective. This is not common. Check all of the other related parts to this symptom before replacing the motor. If the motor is visibly burned out or physically damaged, replace it.
Stator Assembly If the washer won't spin or agitate the stator assembly might be burned out. The stator is essentially one half of a motor, it interacts with the tub by creating a strong electro-magnet. If the stator burns out the washer won't spin or agitate. Check the stator for continuity. This part is often misdiagnosed.

Door or Lid Latch Assembly If the washer won't spin or agitate the lid switch assembly might be defective. This is a very common problem. The lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any electrical switches with an Ohm meter for continuity. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Door Lock Motor and Switch Assembly If the washer won't spin or agitate the door lock assembly should be checked. The door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any switches on the door lock with an Ohm meter. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Motor Control Board If the washer won't spin or agitate the motor control board might be defective. The motor control board provides power to the motor as well as direction and force. If the motor control board is defective the washer may not work at all or function properly.

Washer will not spin. Cleaned drain/filter. Worked for 2 days. Now won't spin and checked drain, it is clean. The drain pump works fine. What to check next?

i had the same problem a year ago. nothing seemed to work. we even got a new washer, same problem. we ended up putting the washer on its own circuit. works fine now.

Drain error still after making sure the washer was level, making sure the drain filter was clean, the drain was clear and replacing the pump motor assembly

LE error? Don't buy a new sensor, don't call a repairman and don't scrap it. The fix is EASY!

Turn the drum 4-5 times by hand to resettle the load, move spin speed to highest, Quick Wash, Speed Wash. It shoudl work just fine. I've had to do this a few times over the last 5 years. Why everyone wants you to BUY parts is beyond me....maybe they need to make some $$ ?
