Question about D-Link RangeBooster G WBR-2310 Wireless Router (WBR2310)

Can't connect to configure password through web address 192.168.0.50

Dear Sir or Madam,
My friend gave me his D-Link DWL-2100AP, H/W Ver: A2 F/W Ver. 2.00. I reset the unit so it can go back to its default settings. I have a wired router in my office (NetGear) that I can connect this unit to one of the pc's that is not being used and then I can have internet access using 'default' network with my MacBook Pro. My problem is that i need to set up a password to give it some security because when this unit is plugged in, anyone can use it to access my other office computers and it could be disastrous.
I don't know how to connect it so i can access it's menu to configure. I tried directly connecting the unit to my pc and also directly connecting it to my Macbook Pro laptop. Of course, no luck. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi blanx - don't rate this yet. Are you just trying to access the D-Link to secure the network? Have you determined your setup and simply need to secure the D-Link? Thanks.

SOURCE: can't connect to configure password through web address 192.168.0.50

what you were missing is the fact that if you directly connect router to pc you will have to change ip on pc to match router i.e you are trying to connect to router through ip listed above then you should make ip on pc 192.168.0.***.

I want activate the WEP,WPA, OR WPA2 i DONT UNDERSTAND THE PRODUCT MANUAL. I woul like have your support. Salvador Tinajero

Step 1 Log into the web configuration of the router by opening up a web browser and typing in the IP address of the router (192.168.0.1).

Click here if you cannot access the web-based configuration.

Step 2 Enter your username (admin) and your password (blank by default). Click OK . Click the Home tab and click the Wireless button on the left hand side of the screen.

Step 3 Select Enable next to the WEP radio buttons. For WEP encryption select 64, 128, or 256-bit encryption. For the Key type select HEX. If you have an option for Authentication type, select Shared Key.

Step 4 Select Key 1. Enter a Hex encryption key that you make up. The length of the encryption key will depend on what you selected under WEP Encryption.

  • 64-bit encryption 10 characters
  • 128-bit encryption 26 characters
  • 256-bit encryption 58 characters (available on DI-614+ only)

  • The encryption key is HEX, meaning 0-9 and A-F are valid characters. For example, A4583DFF1A (64-bit HEX key).

Step 5 Click on the Apply button then click on the Continue button to save your settings.

Note: If using non-D-Link adapters, please refer to the manufacturer´s documentation on enabling encryption. Note: Not all D-Link routers, print servers and access points have a web-based configuration utility. Please check the manual for your particular product. In particular, the DWL-900AP does not have a web utility while the DWL-900AP+ does have a web utility. You cannot gain web-based configuration utility functionality for the DWL-900AP by installing the DWL900AP+ utility.

When entering the IP address of the D-Link device (192.168.0.1 for example), you are not connecting to a website on the Internet or have to be connected to the Internet. The device has the utility built-in to a ROM chip in the device itself. Your computer must be on the same IP subnet to connect to the web-based utility.

    Use with dwl-2100ap

What you need to do is configure the dwl-2100AP. You need to login into the repeater's configuration page and go to Home tab, click on wireless on the left. Select AP Repeater under Mode. A new screen will show up. Click on the scan button to see if your router's signal is being picked up in the box. Just select the signal if you see it in the box and put in your security info if you have one.
