Question about Fuji FinePix S5000 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Overexposure I have owned my Fujifilm S5000 for about 2 1/2 years. It has worked perfectly until the last couple of months. I have always used the flash when the camera told me to. Recently, the camera has been overexposing inside pictures when I use the flash. If I don't use the flash, it underexposes the picture. Any suggestions...ideas? I have moved fairly recently and can't find my manual anywhere. Thanks, Laurie

The top of your cam should have a square button with a positive and negative sign. (I have the S5200, so it shouldn't be that different.) Hold that button down while pushing the button for "Macro" (the one with the little flower. On your LCD the number in lower right hand corner (FStop or something) should decrease (or increase - if you push the right side of the button.) All the buttons have names, and I apologize for not just getting my manual. Just experiment........it won't hurt (of course, you may want to experiment on just a table or something......you know nothing serious until you get the hang of it.

Sorry, I do not see any firmware updates that apply to your flash situation, but I do see one that seems to apply to your picture review situation:
Please read the firmware update instructions and follow them carefully. Errors during firmware updates can ruin your camera:

no problem. your rechargable is not strong enough for this camera. i use rayovac rechargeable from wal-mart and the batteries have to charge for two full days and make sure the light on the charger is off before removing the batteries from the charger. then put them in the camera and it will work perfectly. your batteries aren't strong enough for the camera. go out and get some energizers made just for digitals. they last forever but, they'll do until you get your rayovac rechargeable recharged. and coming right out of the pack they are not charged give it 48 hours and they'll last weeks.

Camera immediately turns off after being turned on

I have owned three Kodak cameras, the last and recent one being the M1063. They all three developed the same problem within two months of ownership....."zoom lens will move in or out depending on original position(gets stuck in out position), and camera beeps, then turns off."

It was always sand/dirt/dust in the zoom section.

Hold the camera in your right hand, as if you are going to take a picture and gently tap the left side of camera against the hard, lower part of your palm.

You might have to do it a couple of times and you might have to be a little more than gentle. Just don't bang it hard directly on the LCD screen, just the left edge.

It always works for me. Good luck.

Over exposure

Hey - have the same problem. All my still pictures are coming out overexposed, no matter what setting I use. Tried resetting, tried new battery, tried new memory card, tried different exposure settings. Nothing fixed it or affected it. However, my movie exposure works great so I can take movies just fine. Are you able to take movies with no overexposure?

OverExposure Even in AUTO mode

usually it's the opening in the lens doing it. it may be stuck open and not closing down during bright sunshine. The only thing you can do is drop the exposure down. Canon offeres a repair for about $100 or a refurbished SD750 for the same money
