The screen cable has come loose just needs pushed back in look up how to take the case apart (the screen and above the keyboard is usually all you need) locate the cable and push it in all the way if it is a plug then usnplug it and plug it back in on both ends. Put it back together enough to power it up and see if it worked.

Blue Screen

please remove battery and ac-power for a couple of minutes and then try to reboot the computer.

if it still doesnt work, shut it down, remove battery and ac.
remove ram
connect ac-power
try to boot without ram
remove ac power
insert ram
insert battery
connect ac and try to boot again.

when the blue screen appear, please write down the top line that looks something similar to this:

IRQL_LESS_OR_NOT_EQUAL_ETC_ETC

and the line close to the bottom that says

STOP: 0x000021 (0x000+++alot of not needed numbers)

when you have done that please come back to me.

My Acer laptop just crashes randomly..i used to have vista, but once it started to crash on vista i installed XP thinking it would stop the crashes....it didnt. now i cant install Vista for some reason.....

Acer usually has a hidden partition which allows you to reinstall the OS back to factory setting. When you boot hold down the ALT + F10 button and it should boot into the recovery disk

Acer Aspire One 10.1" vertical line down the center of the screen

To determine if you have a faulty LCD screen or a faulty video card, connect an external monitor to the laptop's video port, power up the external monitor first the the laptop. The video output should automatically switch to the external monitor. If you get a normal image then the video card is OK, and the fault is with the LCD screen.
If you still get a bad image, then the fault could be a faulty video card or video RAM. Most laptops use part of the main RAM module for video RAM, try reseating the RAM modules and or test the RAM modules. If the RAM is OK then the fault is the video card.

My dell inspiron 1525 microphone does not record.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525. I used Skype ages ago and returned to it a couple of days ago. No one could hear me. I researched for 20 hours, downloading drivers, checking EVERY setting possible and NOW have got the ANSWER. The wires in the Microphone Array are fatigued. My microphone works perfectly when I tilt my lcd screen half way down. Go to Webcam Manager, Tools, Audio controls, the microphone has 2 bars which go green when you talk into it. Tilt your screen and watch the bars go up and down. Not the answer you probably wanted but as long as you skype with your screen half tilted everything is good to go

Connecting an external monitor to acer 5720

I have had this before with my Dell Latitude C540/640. I don't know the ACER 5720 but here's a couple possible fixes for you.

1. Press the function key ( "fn" key, generally a blue key or blue lettering and usually in the bottom left corner of your keyboard) and press F8 (may be a different key on your laptop, again, not familure with the acer. The key usually has either CRT/LCD printed on it, or two monitors on it, one its just an outline of a monitor and the other is filled in. This will run you laptop through the three monitor options it has. (LCD - LCD & External - Just External)

2. Try closing and opening the lid of your laptop. Sounds a bit strange but it works sometimes for me. My guess is when you close you screen it would "dim/turn off" the LCD and re-opening it convinces it to turn the screen back on.

Hope this helps!
