yes, you can use them together. they'll find each other at protocol layer 2 (bridge) and layer 3 (router), and route packets appropriately. Check their manuals to make sure that their HTTP management page ip addresses are different - say 192.168.0.0 for one router and 192.168.1.1 for the other - so that you can manage them separately without disconnecting them. You'll want to manage them separately to assign them different wireless-N channels. Channel 6 is the default, and allowing both to compete on the same channel is a bad idea - give each its own wi-fi channel. There are 11 wireles 802.11n channels, labeled 1-11.
Each link in the diagram above is an ethernet (802.3 10baseT) cable (except the DSL cable, which is twisted pairs), and wireless devices can hop onto the Internet by wirelessly connecting to either the AT&T 2701 or the NetGear router.
login to the router: open internet and type gateway.2wire.net into address bar. Click disable on the wireless in the bottom right side of screen. default password is on label on unit, try serial number if no p/w is given
to monitor all traffic from all computers your computer would have to run the internet connection(modem) and you would have to connect your router to that. that way all traffic would pass through your monitoring computer with watever software you use to do this. Pritty sure this is the case.
you can try resetting the modem by picking a small pin and pocking in behund the modem which states "reset" Or if you can access the gateway you can reset it from there. to access gateway in case type in your browser -- > http://gateway.2wire.net/mdc - <-- you will be prompted to enter password . The default password is 2wire . Once you entered in , scroll down to Troubleshooting which will be on your left , search for resets <--- Click on it, it will direct you to a page where you can reboot system and stuffs.. Click on the button RESET beside factory defaults. Your modem will be reset to factory default, your power light will change orange and be normal back for about 10 secs ... When everything has come back to normal, you can then continue to enter your user id and password to log in internet.Or alternatively u can Go to http://gateway.2wire.net/setup <--- and configure your modem from there with a step by step guide :)
I think you mean the 2wire 2701 Rev A with white front and gray sides? If so there isn't a way in the router to generically disable all movie and music downloads, but if what you mean is that you want to block torrent or p2p downloads from a know client you can do that very easily by simply blocking the port in the firewall on either the router or the operating system.
