When I unplug the TV and plug it back in. The blue power light will stay on for 10 seconds and will flash in on again but will stay on for a minute and do the same sequence again. There is no picture or sound. If you have any idea why this maybe doing this I would be very greatful as I am fixin to pull my hair out trying to figure this out

  • beingboard May 21, 2008

I have checked the website several times today and there has been no change...I am really needing this fixed....

I hope this can be fixed pretty cheap.. I love this HDTV and want to use it for years to come. When you say the lights power supply is it the Caps or the whole chassis itself... I am just wondering the most its going to cost in parts and hoping it nothing major like the light engine..I am looking forward in tearing into this and getting it fixed

Let me know the model number of your set and I should be able to help you out with it, as the ATC dlp chassis have different things that goes wrong but I should be able to help you out as RCA DLPs are my favorite to diagnose.

What youre describing is a 5 code this indicates that a check lamp condition has occured. which can mean that the lamp has burned out. or the lamp door is open or there is a problem with the lamps power supply. With this model I would recommend not buying a lamp unless you have checked the system first. As the lamps are exspensive. I will post a link of the other site that I work for as a support tech. they have the full service manual for your set that breaks it down step by step for you, and when you purchase the manual you recieve free unlimited tech support by instant messageing so you can get to the cause and remedy of your set. They email the service manual out within an hour after you pruchase and also send the info on how to obtain your free tech support. Heres the link i recommend you get the manual and free support as it will save you alot of money and alot of head ache.

I just checked, the girls must have had problems loading the new items as I see some of the manuals are gone and circuit boards are enterd in their place. I will get the front office to check and get them straightened out and I will send you an email when the manuals are all listed again for your model, should onlt take an hr or so

There are capacitors on the power supply board that dry out with age. You can identify them by observing the tops of each of them. They have to be flat, not domed. Some of them may be discolored from heat. You can get parts from here: TV Parts Universal TV Stands DLP Chips ShopJimmy

My RCA Scenium 50in. is not turning on!!

Its sounds as if the lamp has exploded or the color wheel has. I will post a link to a site that has a trouble shooting manual on CD called RCA DLP Disc #1 which covers every DLP in the ATC line which is what your model is. They have it either in cd form or they will email it. Its a very good resource for fixing your own set.

"52" RCA Scenium DLP; No Picture and the buttons flash on and off

On the back of the TV, you'll find the Access door to your lamp. Unplug the TV from power, and remove the screw on the access panel. Inside you'll find 2 additional screws holding in the lamp housing assembly. Remove the screws, then the lamp assembly and visibly inpect it. You'll know if the lamp is defective, it will have obvious damage. If so replace with part # 260962, you can acquire this lamp for arround 100 dollars off ebay, or 262.00 direct from RCA.
