HTC S720 Smartphone

The softkeys, navagation keys, send, end, home and back keys on my HTC S720 stopped working.

I have the same problem. I did a hard-reset using the soft keys. However, the hard-reset didn't correct the problem with the middle button, call, end, home, back, soft-keys.

so the only time the soft-keys work is to hard-reset... so its got to be a software issue, but a hard-reset wont fix the problem.

Try a soft reset (remove and replace battery), If your sure you haven't installed anything that may have remapped the keys, next option is a hard reset (all data will be lost, make sure you back it up)

There are two methods to performing a hard reset

  • Select Start > Accessories > Clear Storage. Enter 1234 where prompted and select YES.
  • Power the device off. Press and hold the left and right soft keys. Power the device on while holding these keys. Follow the on-screen prompts to factory reset the device.
If you find you can hard reset using the second method you know that your keyboard is ok, if the it refuses to reset its looking like an electrical problem which could be the keyboard or motherboard..

best of luck

I have the first HTC Tilt, and I have forgotten my passcode to unlock the phone. Is there a way I can reboot, or reset the whole thing instead of sending it in and paying for them to fix it?

If your keys lock then this will not work but here is the instructions to do hard reset. WARNING !!!!hard reset will erase all of your info and your phone will be set to factory. By the way if you take it to an AT&T corporate(not walmart) there should be no charge for them to get your password for your phone.

A hard reset erases all data off of the HTC Tilt.

1. Press and hold the left and right softkeys at the same time.

2. While continuing to hold both buttons, use the stylus to press the Reset button at the bottom of your device.

3. Release the Reset button and continue to hold down the 2 softkeys until you see a message about deleting all data from the device.

4. Press the Phone button to complete the hard reset.

Cost of hts s710 &s720 .does it support 3g

hey there welcome to fixya

the HTC S710 does not support 3G. You get quad-band GSM with GPRS and EDGE, which should keep you connected (albeit at moderate speeds) both at home and abroad.

however HTC is releasing the s730, which is a 3G phone and is basically the next model up from the s710; however, although it is the same form factor, there are some visual differences. Take a look:at theses links

i hope this information was of great help to you please remember to rate this solution thank you

HTC P3400i is not working properly, only a red

Try to hard reset it. You, most probably, know that a hard reset will set your device to its factory defaults, thus deleting every program you have installed, as well as you personal data. Hope you have a recent backup, to be restored after the hard reset procedure.
Anyway, to do it, press and hold both softkeys (the ones marked with '-'), and, whilst keeping them pressed, briefly press the reset pin (at the botton of the device) with the stylus pen. Keep pressing the keys until a warning message comes up. Then, release the keys and follow instructions on the screen (if any).

Hope you are able to bring your device back to life.

Regards, Carlos

Htc tytn 2 problem

Try to hard reset your device. Your device will return to its factory defaults. Your device's user manual tells how to do it. Just in case you don't have it, press and hold both softkeys. Whilst keeping them pressed, briefly press the reset pin with the stylus pen. Release the keys as further instructions come up on-screen. Just follow them.
Hope your device comes back to life soon.
Cheers! Carlos

Firmware deleted

you will likely have to reset your phone to factory firmware
to do this:

1 hold down both soft keys (the 2 buttons under the screen that have no specific symbol, on either side of the launch pad)

2 while holding these, press the power button once

3 when phone turns on, release the soft keys

4 follow the on-screen prompts to reset phone to factory

5 (optional) try firmware upgrade again and WAIT FOR THE COMPUTER TO SAY ITS OK TO DISCONNECT BEFORE DISCONNECTING

hope this helps

Sorry if I didn't reply properly to your response about the HTC tilt

You will have to do a master or "hard" reset which will reset your phone to factory state. This can be done via Tapping Start > Settings > System tab, then tap Clear Storage and input "1234". Conversely you can also hard reset your phone by holding both your softkeys (the physical keys that map to left and right menu options) and using your stylus to hit the reset button while holding those two softkeys.

Hope this may help
