Turn off the modem and turn off the router. Remove the cords (Ethernet cords) Turn off your PS3, let it sit for 2 minutes then attempt again. If still does not work. If you can directly connect from the modem to computer if it works then press and hold in the reset button on the router for 15 seconds and release it. If it still doesnt work then issue with the modem. After you released the router, wait 1 minute. Turn it off, leave it unplugged so it can fully discharges (15seconds) then turn back online and attempt again.

My PS3 can't find the IP address for my wireless router and I don't know how to enter it

possible cause is that ps3 uses an ip address leased from the wi fi router via its DHCP Server in Router. If PS3 was off for a while another computer on Wi FI network may have been assigned the IP address that the PS3 thinks it has.
Try page 29 of
http://au.playstation.com/media/2Pv7AFEC/CECH-2102B_2103B-3.20_UKANZ[EN]_vf1.pdf
on page 31 change the ip address setting to manual
set ip to 192.168.0.254 subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Now exit setup
Then go back into Setup
Change IP address setting to Auto
Why

This will renew the ip address from the DHCP server to the ps3 hopefully allocating you a fresh IP address lease .

My router was working fine with my iphone and ipad , now it will not connect and i still have a connection with my ps3

If you reset the router and have not turned off and back on all your devices you probably have conflicting addresses. some versions of ps3 will not connect for some reason unless they have the first ip available on the router.
Turn off your wirelss on your iphone and ipad, turn off the ps3. Reboot the router when it comes back up turn on the ps3 and get a good connection, the enable wireless on your ipad or iphone and get a connection the doe the same with the other.
This will avoid conflicting addresses.
An IP address has a 24 hour lease if you reboot a router it forgets what device had whipch ip address. If you need to reboot your router you need to refresh the ip address of all your devices to avoid conflicting ip's.
In this case I suspect you ipad and iphone are attempting to use the same ip address.

Can't connect to my linksys wrt54gx2 router and even when I do, it tells me there is an ip address conflict and disconnects me

try to connect using a LAN Cable (Wired) connection. and then try to access 192.168.0.1 you should be able to see wireless settings there.

IP address must not be the same with the IP Address of other computers in your house. look for the Range and Increase it so that the router could have a wider range of IP Address to choose from.

I can play any game online fine, but when it comes to fifa i send my friend an invite he accepts then nothing happens it just comes up this game session is no longer active, or when i do get a game it says...

You need to either give your PS3 a static IP address and then put that IP in DMZ in your router, or you need to open up the ports it tells you in the Fifa 09 manual.

To put your PS3 into a DMZ (To be done on the PS3 Console)

Firstly, you will need to assign your PS3 a static internal Ip address. This means that everytime your PS3 connects or "talks" to your router, the router will assign it a different internal IP address. These IP addresses typically run in series. So for example, if your PS3 is the second device communicating with your router, then it will be assigned an ip address of 192.168.1.3. However, if you choose to use your PS3 without the computer being on, the assigned IP address your PS3 has will be 192.168.1.2. As this is different, and obviously will change, it would be stupid setting a DMZ up on one of the above Ip addresses, unless your PS3 was the only device that would ALWAYS connect using that specific IP.

To make sure that your PS3 is always assigned the same internal IP address by your router, you will need to go to the "Settings > Network Settings > Internet Connection Settings" option on the PS3 Cross bar menus.

You will be presented with an option which primarily asks whether you are using a Wired or Wireless connection. Obviously, you will choose the option which refers to you. If choosing the Wireless option you will need to input the security details in use on your router *If you are not currently using wireless security, i strongly reccommend you do so ASAP*

Both selections should show a page called "Address Settings". Here you will need to select "Custom". Another page will then display entitled "IP Address Setting". The option "Manual" will need to be selected.

This will display a page where customisable IP Addresses are available to be selected.

IP Address - This will need to have the Static IP address in it. Personally, i use 192.168.1.100. I use this because it is extremely unlikely my Router will ever automatically assign this IP Address to a device, as i will never have 99 other devices connected to the same system.

Subnet Mask - Is always set to 255.255.255.0

Default Router - Is the internal IP Address of your router.
To get the exact ip of your router you should go to
Start
Run
cmd [Hit Enter]
Type in ipconfig and hit enter, this should come up with all the ip addresses to do with your computer and the network. The address you will need to enter in this option is listed as "Default Gateway".

Primary DNS - Same IP Address as "Default Router"

Secondary DNS - Same IP Address as "Default Router"

After entering all of these IP Addresses, you will now click "Enter" or hit the "right" button on the D-Pad. This will take you to a screen which says "MTU" at the top. My setup has this as Automatic, solely because i haven't a clue what MTU actually means or does. This won't affect your ability to set up a DMZ.

The next steps are very simple. You do not want to use a proxy server unless you connect to the internet using one, however i can be of no help there, and you should enable UPnP if your router supports it.

To put your PS3 into a DMZ (To be done on the PC)

Now head over to your PC, and load up your internet browser. In the Address Bar, type the IP Address of your router (the one you found using the Command Prompt earlier)

This will take you to your Router Configuration Page.

Every router interface differs from an other, and depending on what router firmware update you last installed, router interfaces can differ, even on the same model routers. This means that you will need to search the router config page yourself. You are looking for any mention of "DMZ" or "DMZ Host"

When you have found this, it will ask you generally to input the IP Address of your DMZ Host, which is just the static IP address you assigned to your PS3 earlier, my example was 192.168.1.100, so we'll stick with that. Then click "apply" or similar.

You should then turn off everything running on your home network. PS3, PC, Router etc. This is solely to make sure that the changes are applied as soon as possible.

This should fix all of the problems as listed earlier in this guide, and probably some other issues

Cant get internet on ps3

make sure that the ip address that you are getting is a valid one and you are connected to the correct wireless network. for example, if your router's ip address id 192.168.1.1, your computer should have an ip address of 192.168.1.x. if you are getting a valid ip address and you're still getting the dns error, the thing that you can do is set a static ip address and dns to your ps3.
if you don't know the dns to use, go to the command prompt and type ipconfig/all and it'll give you a list that'll contain the dns servers. copy the dns and enter it on the ip settings of your ps3 together with the default gateway (ip address of the router), subnet mask (it's usually 255.255.255.0) and your ip address (make sure that the ip address that you'll set on the ps3 is not being used by any of your computers)

hope this'll help you and just ask me if your still having any problem

ciao!

Unstable PS3 connection

good idea to assign your own ip but no need to use dmz...

do the following:

1. reset your router to factory settings, assign urself an ip address (make sure its out of the scope of the dhcp), no need for dmz
2. enable upnp (thats what ps3 uses)
open these specific ports if u are using firewalls
TCP:
  • 80
  • 443
  • 5223
UDP:
  • 3478
  • 3479
  • 3658 should also be opened for voice chat.
also if u want to make it faster use Port forwarding and then forward the above port to your static ps3 ip address and u will get even lower pings to play games and no lag

cheers
