The same thing happened to me. Canon and others used CCD sensors from a well known maker and the CCD's were defective. They would come loose, especially in high temperature high humidity conditions. LOL-I live in Houston where it is always hot and humid. Take a look at this from Canon's website:
http://www.usa.canon.com/... ...goryid=221&modelid=8288&keycode=2112&id=29819

Canon will replace the defective CCD for free. Free shipping also. Have the camera charged up when you call the 800 number listed, they may have you reset the camera to see if that solves the problem. They will email all the necessary labels to send to their repair center.

I would assume the lcd light is just out. It happens all the time. The wire inside the camera connecting the light to the lcd screen will, for one reason or another, come loose. You need to take it to a repair shop.

My Kodak Easyshare V1223 turns on and shows all icons normally on the view screen as well as older pictures on the memory card...but shows everything else black and pictures remain black even with flash...

Hi!

It is not necessary something wrong with the camera itself. Sometimes the simptom is caused by the memory card. Reading from it works (so you can see older pictures) but every new picture is written wrong, so the camera shows only black.

Hope it is only the memory card in your case.

Good luck,

Bogdan

Apparently takes pictures ... but black out the screen .... if you turn on and everything but can not see anything ... Sorry about my English

I see nothing on the monitor screen when I want to capture a picture. The screen monitor remaind black but I can capture new pictures. when I press the play button, I can't see the picture. When I retreive the picture from the camera to a computer, I realize the picture is black and I can't distinguish anything.
But when I introduce the good picture from my computer to the Digital Camera, from the Sceen Monitor, I can visualize only the good picture I introduce in mysefl.
The flash is working properly, the on/Off button is ok, the lens appear to be normal.

Whenever i want to take a picture the screen reamins black

A stuck shutter is a common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open).

To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see the following for further info and a simple fix that may help:

Black Screen

I have the exact problem. I came on slowly, some days it would work, some days it wouldnt. Finally i couldnt get it working at all. Sent it back to Kodak as it was still under warranty, the repair center claims it was "physical damage". They admit that the camera shows no evidence of falling or banging but it doesnt matter. The camera was lightly used only by my wife, she took good care of it. I'm currently fighting with Kodak, they are requesting photos from the repair center, so they claim. I think its lost cause, but we'll see.

Black everything!

See this link. The instructions are for US, but Canon will take care of this problem worldwide. You will need to contact your regional Canon service if you're not in the US.

Canon sd450 - spilled a little lemonade on the camera

maybe the lemonade was sticky and the shutter can't open? otherwise the circuitry could have been fried if you turned it on before it dried inside.
