My Sony MHC 771 3 disc changer says there is no disc when there really are . It will not play any CD . Is there a sensor I can clean?

Remove the belt and measure it in MM. The search for a belt at that size with Google. You don't have to be too precise about the size. For example if it is 48mm than a 50mm belt should do the trick. Don't bother with the maker's name either. Then can be universal. As long as it looks right.

It sounds like the optical sensor is either dirty or faulty.

The symptoms you've described "No disc Error" is a fault when the optical lens failed to read the disc on its assembly. Yes, one caused of this symptoms is a dirty optical lens due to fine foreign object build-up on the optical lens itself like dust and static electricity build-up.

I would advice you to clean the lens using the CD disc lens cleaner. Play it at least two times to the unit to clean the dirt and static electricity build up. Most of this symptoms resolve by lens cleaning alone.

However, after playing the disc lens cleaner on the unit and still the symptoms persist, this is an indication that the optical lens is faulty. You have to replaced it with new one. Click it here for the replacement.

Before you replaced the optical lens, observe the disc if will spin or not upon playing, if yes then the problem is the optical lens, if not, the fault is on the disc assembly, you have to replaced the entire disc assembly. Contact this LINK to inquire for the parts.

the mechanism is bad or in human terms the motor that excepts and moves the disc has gone out i reccomend taking it to a repair shop to get a estimate because it may jus be cheaper to replace it.

Sounds like feedback. Check your speaker connections at the speaker and the main unit.

It is error message of HiFi when it finds problem in Tape Mechanism. Tape mechanism is stucked and needs to be reset. Open your HiFi and rotate the capstan wheel with finger and then try to power up.

If it havent been use for a long time try dusting it and cleaning it first, sometimes dirt gets stuck on vital places which makes it go crazy. Hope this works. Please dont forget your rating for me as well...We take time in answering problems. Thanks
