I have the same thing - a new Dell, a brother printer/scanner/faxer with photodrive slots for SD/flash and my computer won't boot if it's plugged in! I can't find USB emulator in Dell bios. I can disable the USB but won't that prevent any USB device (including my keyboard) from working then?

Hai

I understand that your Isue is "After installing the HP All-in-One software, the computer stops responding during start up when the All-in-One is connected and turned on. The computer will start correctly if the All-in-One is not connected or is turned off."

SOLUTION:

This problem can be resolved by changing the "USB Emulation" in the Computer BIOS settings.
If you are using a DELL Computer just follow my instruction below.

Caution:
If you are using a USB keyboard, do not disable “USB Emulation”, “USB Keyboard Support”, or “USB Legacy Support”. If the settings must be disabled, use a PS/2 keyboard

Changing the BIOS on a Dell Dimension computer
Follow the steps below to turn off the ability to boot from USB devices but still support a USB keyboard while starting. Contact Dell for assistance if necessary.

  1. Shut down the computer.
  2. Unplug all USB devices other than a keyboard.
  3. Start the computer. When the Dell logo displays, press the F2 key to enter the System Setup (BIOS) program. If the Windows screen displays, wait for the computer to finish starting up, shut it down, and then try again.
  4. Press the Down Arrow key to highlight Integrated Devices (Legacy Select Options).
  5. Press the Enter key.
  6. Press the Down Arrow key to highlight USB Emulation .
  7. Press the Space Bar until the “ No BOOT ” option displays.
  8. Press the Esc key twice to go to the Exit menu.
  9. Plug the USB devices back in.
  10. Ensure that “ Save Changes and Exit ” is highlighted, and press the Enter key. Contact Dell for assistance if the problem still exists

Change the BIOS on computers from manufacturers other than Dell If you do not have a Dell computer, contact the computer manufacturer for assistance. If the manufacturer does not know how to disable starting from USB devices, they may be able to change the order (boot order) of the disks the BIOS uses to start the computer. Move the bootable USB devices selection lower on the list than the computer hard disk drive. If you have any further queries or if the problem still persists, reply me. The F380 is working other than the scanner. It says to check the connection, but it is all connected properly

Uninstall the printer. Plug out the USB cable from the PC of the printer then insert the driver disk of the printer and install it again as it prompts you to enter the USB plug cable. plug it in that and after that installation restart the computer.

Try to shut off the printer, then the computer check all the connections, turn on the computer, then turn on the printer. Wait for the ready light to come on. If that doesnt work then try to uninstall all of the software then reinstall everything.

How I could wirelessy connect my HP printer f380 to my netbook (wi-fi 801.11 g)?

Sorry, but there is no wireless option for the f380. According to the HP manual your printer must be physically connected to the computer via USB.

Simply turn your computer off.
Then pull out printer cable connected to your computer/laptop.
Then turn your printer off.
Turn your computer back on.
Then connect printer cable to your computer/laptop.
Turn your printer on.
Check your printer device - should say "Ready."
Works like a charm! \ (^ ^) /

HP Deskjet F380

Hi nhehernandez,

Here is what you should do to get that printer working. Assuming that you have all the ink cartridges installed, the printer loaded up with paper and turned on (but not yet connected to the computer), here is what to do next.

1. Browse to this website address and download/install the specific drivers for your particular computer operating system:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=1128296&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us

2. Follow the instructions that display on your computer monitor.

Hope that helps,

Take care,

Michael

Must Reinstall to Print

Most USB printers need to have the printer driver installed before you connect the printer to the computer, did you install the printer this way?

Also, check and see if it is the default printer.

If those do not work:

1) Turn off the Terminate and Stay Resident programs MSCONFIG in VISTA.
2) Disable HP device discovery service.
3) Uninstall the All-In-One software.
4) Turn off firewall and antivirus.
5) Reinstall the latest software for the All-In-One.
Hope this helps.

Please let me know how this works for you.
