Hello, My Infocus x2 projector works properly, except for the fact that it casts a dark strip by the side of the screen, like if it would be a burn stain. What should I do to fix this? Thanks in advance, Lali

Have Infocus X2 projector. When on a dark shadow line appears down the left side of screen. Could it be a bad lamp?

no it is not lamp problem. it must be light tunnel problem.
after lamp there is tunnel for light travel, made from 4 pieces of mirror.
this tunnel is glued. glue tend to break in time so the tunnel is no longer doing its purpose.
open this part of projector, there should be 2 little screws holding it. repair it by reposition mirrors and glue them from outside by little drop of temperature resistant and elastic glue. that's it !

X2 OHP mounted on ceiling fixture. Image is dark on right side

Yes it will have to come off the ceiling. It sounds like the light tunnel has collasped. This is located under the colorwheel. If you can get a new tunnel , be careful removing the colorwheel so no segments break off of it...make sure the new tunnel is pushed against the "lip" before screwing the tunnel clip back into place.

We have an InFocus LP70+. we have had a dark strip along the right side of the projected image. That dark strip has spread across so that now we only have a strip of the image along the left side. Not sure...

the light tunnel (integrator rod) has collapsed and needs to be replaced. you could either buy the part from an infocus service center or send it in to one for repair. it is, however, a pretty involved repair. if you are mechanically inclined, then try it. otherwise, send it in. either way, try av solutions in ny. they're really good. www.avsolutionsny.com

Infocus X1a no picture, solid green LED

if the lamp is new, it could be the power supply (the ballast is built in to the ps). but make sure you have the right lamp. the X1 and X1a have an sp-lamp-019 and the similar X2 and X3 have an sp-lamp-018. the lamps are almost identical except for the wire configuration on the lamp plug. make sure the wires in the plug match the positions in the socket. also, when you turn it on, if you don't hear a high pitch squeal, the colorwheel is not working. and if that isn't working, the lamp won't either. also check to see if the lamp door is closing properly and hitting the switch at the top of the opening.

Infocus X2 projector, white vertical strip on right quadrant.

on the X2, the dmd chip is attached to the main board on the bottom of the machine. you need to take the top case off, as well as the 2 power supply boards. push the dmd chip (behind the lens assembly) back onto the board.

Infocus X2 searches won't display desktop

Hello,
In the projector's menu under "sources" make sure that the box to the right of "Computer" is checked. Also check the box at the bottom of that page that says "auto source select" or something. But it is the last thing on that menu and should be checked.

Cheers

Fixing an Infocus X2 Light Tunnel Problem...

Hi JF1226

This quite a tricky job , but not impossible.

You will see once you've taken out the light tunnel ( also known as the packlight pipe module ) that there is one or two of the small mirrors that has come loose as a result of the lamp's heat.

Glue them back with Super Glue that dries very fast.
Do them one by one , always try to build them back in from edge to edge i.e. - If the top one and left side one is loose , do the side one first and then the top one - just makes it easier.

Remember you only have one shot at this , so do it carefully.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya.

1/2 the screen is viewable

You would be wrong. Lamps do not do that. They either work or they don't, they do not cast shadows or give half an image.

What is going on is the light tunnel has failed. It is a small, 4-sided mirrored tunnel that focuses the light into the optical chamber. It is directly behind the color wheel. I've seen this probelm dozens of times.
