Question about RIM BlackBerry Pearl 8100

Address book help / won't open

I got a new BlackBerry Pearl yesterday and had my contacts transferred. The address book opened fine and worked great yesterday. However today, when I click on the address book icon it refuses to open and stays frozen untill I hit the end button. Any advice?

    Yea, this same problem happened to me. its pretty sucky especially since i love this phone so much.

    somehow I have lost my contacts in my blackberry pearl 8100. I know they are stored somewhere because it shows that i have them but it wont let me copy them to my address book. can you please tell me how to get the numbers back to my address book thanks

    I got my blackberry pearl 8100 yesterday. added all my contacts by hand and the address book was opening fine yesterday. Today it wouldn't open and the screen froze. What do i do?

    My phone is doing the exact same thing. My address book is frozen on my blackberry pearl and won't open.

    I got a new blackberry because the trackball on my old one stopped working....then the next day the address book on my phone was frozen but I could access it by other means just not through the icon. For example you can press the send key for a few seconds.



    Resetting by taking the battery out for 10 seconds repaired this problem

    My Pearl freezes when I try and access the address book and only unfreezes once the end button is pressed, anyone know how to fix this?

Reset the phone by removing the battery for 10 seconds. That should release the application freeze.

How do I transfer all contacts to my sim card


You will have to transfer your contacts one at a time. To export a contact's phone number to a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card in a BlackBerry smartphone, complete the following steps:
  1. Open the Address Book application from the BlackBerry smartphone Home screen.
  2. Click the contact that you want to transfer to your SIM card.
  3. Highlight the phone number you would like to transfer.
  4. Display the menu on the BlackBerry smartphone.
  5. Click Copy to SIM Phone Book.
  6. Make sure that you are attempting to transfer the correct informaton to your SIM card.
  7. Display the menu on the BlackBerry smartphone, and click Save.

This is a corrupt software problem. This should be consulted to a authorized dealer.

I can't open email attachments


This happens becasue of the following
1. the blackberry does not have the option to open the attachments.
A. check if the attachement option is intalled by going to OPTIONS == ADVANCED OPTIONS == APPLICATIONS.

2. the DESKTOP(CMIME) service book is missing.
A. call the service provider and as to resend the service book.

3. if the blackberry is associated to the blackberry internet service then the EMAIL ADDRESS(CMIME) is corrupt or missing
A. first delete the service book by going to OPTIONS == ADVANCED OPTIONS == SERVICE BOOK then highlight the EMAIL ADDRESS(CMIME) press MENU and then select DELETE and then call the service provider and ask them to send the service book.

4. the message data base is corrupt
A. clear the message data base on the Blackberry.

  1. In the address book, press the Menu key.
  2. Click Options.
  3. Click General Options.
  4. Set the Allow Duplicate Names field to No.
  5. Press the Menu key.
  6. Click Save.

My Address book for my BB pearl 8100 just disappeared


Seeing as this is a blackberry I need you to do a hard reset- take the battery out of your phone while it is still turned on, then let it reset itself. If that doesn't work, consult with your phone company's tech support. Good luck

Can not open my Address book - everything else works!


A co-worker suggested I simply remove the battery for a few seconds and then restart. That's all it took to solve the problem!

Blackberry Pearl: memory issues?


I do apologize you are having this issue with the Blackberry pearl 8100. Lovely device.
The manufactur, RIM is aware of the memory issue. It's a known malfunction of the device. Luckily, there's a way to fix it, and keep your pictures, logs, address book, etc.. from deleting.
First, you should have a 1GB card for your photos.
Second your phone stores what it does. So, when ever you exit an application press the back button. NOT the hang up button. It'll only leave that application running in the back ground.
Third, you can clear history by holding on ALT+LG+LG. You'll get an event log. Press MENU key, and select "Clear history".
Next, clear the cashe. Open up Internet browser, press the menu key and select clear cashe. Once you have done that, press the back button to the begining. Save all pictures on the memory card. If you don't have memory card, connect your Blackberry to your PC and use the desk top manager to sync your media over via USB cord.
Now, that you are connected via USB cord and have the desk top manager up, run application loader. This should take a total of 20 minutes. Do not REMOVE from the cord. You'll ruin the OS on the Pearl.
Once all is cleared out, and updated. Do a check on your camera, your call log, and sms's. Periodically, delete your text messages. I would say, once or twice a month run the application loader. RIM always updates their software every 2-4 months. That way you'll keep your Blackberry longer and stronger! Enjoy!

Bb calendar sync


You may need to clear out the calendar database first on the BlackBerry device, and then try to synch again. Do the following:

1. Connect your BlackBerry via USB.
2. Open Desktop Manager and go to the Backup and Restore option.
3. Select Advanced.
4. The Desktop Manager will show the device databases on the right-hand side.
5. Scroll down and highlight the entry that says Calendar, then click on the Clear button.

Once Desktop Manager has cleared the calendar database try to sync again.

Address book will not open it freezes up


I had the same problem..turned the phone off, took the battery out,  then put it back in turned the phone on and it worked again....
